I Saw the Devil proves it: Korea likes scenes of serial killers in convenience stores.

@will_leisure said:@Spatulalad: Last night's episode had Wynn Duffy watching women's tennis. Take with that what you will...Wynn was talking about watching women's volleyball back in Season 2, I think? Its his thing. My bullshit theory is that characters who watch cowboy movies are good guys, characters who watch funniest home video clip shows are going to die or go to prison, and film noir watchers...I don't know? Yeah, pretty much a ...

Good to hear! And yes, if you haven't watched the show for some reason, consider watching it. It does a nice job of walking the line between Western morality tales and postmodern crime thriller - while also being its own thing.Only tangentially related point: ever notice what the characters are watching on TV? Rewatching some episodes I started to realize that they tend to go with one of three types ...

In the comics, being awesome provides you with special powers of plot contrivance, so I think Hawkeye and Black Widow will be fine.

I look forward to the crossover where Raylan takes on Amish drug dealers!

Justified is really kicking ass so far. I worry however that the consistent awesome/badassery on display cannot be sustained at this pace. Something I found strangely refreshing in the second season was the relatively slow approach to that great finale - it had some restraint I guess?But...I'm a worrier by nature and am just as happy to see bullet festivals as the next guy.

Spatulalad commented on JoeyF's video Besties: Spider-Man 2.
I must be on the wrong side of a generation gap or something, but Spider-Man 2 is one of my favorite movies period. I always liked Tobey Maguire as Peter Parker precisely because he's a whiny, mopey, goofy schlub of a loser. And if Kirsten Dunst's no Emma Stone, she seemed to be a pretty good foil for Maguire's Parker in the trilogy, this film especially. There's a bunch of other ...

This movie just about broke my heart after how stellar the previous movie had been.

Tarantino is a reactionary filmmaker, often in good ways, and this list reflects that.

If you aren't watching this show or the past two seasons, do yourself a favor and find some time to fix that.

Justified!!! Season 2 was indeed classic; hillbilly Shakespeare, to paraphrase one of the showrunners.New season starts on January 17th, by the by, and I couldn't be more pumped.

@SubwayD said:Urgh. I'll admit that the first film was a bit of a laugh as a super-natural slasher flick. The second just came across as mean spirited, leaving me feeling pretty shit for having watched it. This video pretty much confirms that leaving after the second was a good idea.As much as I like gnarly horror films and gallows humour, the who idea of having a movie series which simply ...

Identity reminds me of the putative joke of a movie that Nic Cage's identical twin presents in Adaptation.

This show seems to have the same problem I felt the comic book suffered from - long periods of sustained tension balanced against all the character subplots, punctuated with the Next Big Screw Up. If those subplots work then you care about the characters and their dilemma, so when the next big "everything goes to Shit" moment inevitably comes, there's some sort of catharsis in how their personal arcs resolve, ...

As somebody who lost interest in this show about halfway through the first season:Are they trying for long form storytelling like The Wire?Or are they spinning their wheels?'Cause those are different things.

Also feature's "Running the World" by Jarvis Cocker in the closing credits, perhaps the best song to feature extensive use of the C-word.
