1. Bram Stoker's Dracula
The creme de la creme of Dracula stories. To this day it still wreaks of class and grade-a directing from a craftsman. |
2. The Lost Boys
This made vampires cool. Vampire hunters that work at a comic book store, and a master vampire that runs a VHS rental store...what more do I need to say? |
3. Fright Night
I bear no ill will towards the remake, but this always makes me feel like the product of the 80's that I am. Funny how that transformation scene at the end with Evil turning from a wolf back into a human still effects me. |

4. John Carpenter's Vampires
Pure testosterone! He fucking splits a guy in half! Just thinking about this movie gives me a little wood (mahogany). |
5. Interview with the Vampire
So much like Bram Stoker's Dracula, with its excellent cinematography and dialogue. Something I understood as I got older was the blaring sexual nature of this flick. Everyone is attractive and romanticized to the point that all you wanted to do was just look at them. |

6. Vampire in Brooklyn
Despite what people say or think, I fell in love with this movie from the get go. Murphy's charm is what gets you through, and you can obviously see that Craven had fun making this. |
7. From Dusk Till Dawn
Watching this and Full Tilt Boogie (the making-of documentary) really puts into perspective how great a movie this is. Grit without sacrificing style. Funny dialogue without sounding too cheesy or schlocky. |
8. Blade
It can be more than just blood and guts horror. I still say that this is the first great comic book movie. |
9. Bordello of Blood
The most relevant that Dennis Miller has ever been to me. If Interview With The Vampire touched any homoerotic buttons, this goes waaaayyyy over to the other side of the spectrum. |

10. Dracula 2000
I'm ending with this one for shits and giggles. It came out in 2000, and I think it's appropriate given that this list is nothing but movies made before then. It's sleek, with a great cast and good popcorn value. |
