Not in order of course. For example, The Graduate is one of my all-time favorites, and it's pretty low on here. Mostly due to being pushed back for movies I didn't trust I'd remember if I left and came back to the list, whereas I would remember that one.

1. North by Northwest
So amazing. Easily one of my favorite movies ever. The plot is "out there" but still grounded, all the characters are memorable, and Cary Grant is amazing as always. You grow to feel for his character, but at the same time feel like he's never truly helping his own situation. |
2. Vertigo
The seminal Hitchcock classic. Suspenseful, intriguing, and never boring. Still haven't seen a movie like it. Well, besides High Anxiety, which is an admitted parody. |
3. Dial M for Murder
The most chilling of my three favorite Hitchcock flicks. Hitchcock just knew what buttons to push... or dial... Get it?! |
4. Star Wars
It's Star Wars. Fucking Star Wars! A journey of self-discovery, faith (in general terms), and just how much say we have in the paths we all walk. Also, explosions! |
5. Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back
The continuity of the previous movie on this list. The entire time they're on Hoth is classic, we meet Yoda, and Luke fights Vader. And more explosions! |
6. Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi
The thrilling climax. A great tense and entertaining opening scene, lots of drama, betrayal, and a legendary conclusion. And... wait for it... Furry things! Causing explosions! (see what I did there?) |
7. Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith
I thoroughly enjoy the prequels, though Episode III is the only one I'd say is an amazing movie. Where episodes I and II made me kind of not care for Anikin, III did a much better job of making him a sympathetic villain, yet not quite so much that you can't love to hate him in the originals. Did I mention the battle between Anikin and Obi-Wan? Astounding. Still not quite the epics the original trilogy are, however. |
8. Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan
The only Star Trek movie I really love. I like most of them, but Khan is the only one that stands out. A great, sympathetic but still insane villain, nice sub-stories, and the only somewhat-cohesive plot I can think of in a Star Trek movie. |
9. Godzilla
I love most Godzilla movies not named "Son of Godzilla" or made by American cash-hounds to look like Jurassic Park. |
10. Pulp Fiction
A classic. Intense but funny, complex but easy to follow, and engaging but charmingly off-putting. That and Samuel L. Jackson... DO THEY SPEAK ENGLISH IN "WHAT"!? |
11. Reservoir Dogs
An epic of crime drama. I love the element of never showing the actual crime and forcing you to put the pieces together. It's too bad Tarantino doesn't make movies like this anymore. |
12. Kill Bill: Vol. 1
I only put Vol. 1 because I think they tie so well together, I have a hard time seperating them in my mind. The story is so farfetched, but oddly engaging. The action is amazing, and the whole thing is purposefully campy in the most awesome way. Also, the music kicks ass. |
13. Tommy Boy
An obvious comedy classic. Farley and Spade were at the top of their game, not caring to pander to anyone and creating gold together. They're such opposites in this film, but they gel together so well. Everything about this movie is classic. |
14. Airplane!
I have to admit, I haven't seen The Naked Gun series or most of Nielsen's other work. I think I'm afraid of being disappointed. This was such a huge movie, a seminal comedic blockbuster if you will. So many hilarious moments, great cameos all pulled off expertly, and of course, Nielsen's trademark cadence make this movie impossible to not love (in my obviously right opinion) |
15. The Green Mile
Such a great story. Everything is delivered perfectly. They take something you'd never expect and make it one of the most moving things you'll ever see. I've never felt so bad or so connected to mostly guilty inmates. Tom Hanks and Doug Hutchinson (I know, who?) are great, but if you ask me, Michael Clarke Duncan gives one of the all-time greatest acting performances. |
16. The Shawshank Redemption
Such an amazing story. You feel for every character, and the bonds they create seem so real and meaningful, even among convicts. Depressing, but feel-good. It really makes one think twice about accusations. Also, Morgan Freeman is amazing. |
17. The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring
I love these movies. And yes, I did read the books and loved those too! This movie is just so epic and gorgeous. The landscapes are sprawling and amazing, not to mention how well they fit. The characters are great, especially Ian McClennin's Gandalf, and it introduces the world around you almost perfectly without sacrificing excitement. |
18. The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers
My personal favorite of the series, amazing action, and turmoil outside and within. |
19. The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King
Not much left to say. Another great movie, exciting, action-packed, with a satisfying conclusion. |
20. Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy
Perhaps one of the funniest movies I have ever seen. It's sad to see how the comedy of the day went from Anchorman to the piece of shit Hangover, but I digest. This flick is funny as balls, and surprisingly deep and thought-provoking if you pay enough attention to it. Also, GO BACK TO YOUR HOME ON WHORE ISLAND!!! |

29. 2001: A Space Odyssey |

30. Dawn of the Dead |
31. Night of the Living Dead
Pretty much all "of the Dead" series is great, but the first two are still my favorites. |
32. The Abominable Dr. Phibes |
33. Birdemic: Shock and Terror
So bad. SOOOOOOOOOO BAD. I love it! |
