(Of the movies I saw, of course)

1. Argo
The phrase, "The truth is stranger than fiction" may not apply to any other movie more than Argo. Prosing as a film crew in order to get American embassy refugees out of Iran, was an extremely terrible idea, and fact that it worked is nothing short of a miracle. Ben Affleck tells turns this incredible true story, into a part comedy, part thriller, part political film, but yet, it is all extremely well written. Argo is all around the best film of the year. |

2. The Cabin in the Woods
On the surface, The Cabin in the Woods may seem like a movie you have seen a million times before (like in The Evil Dead), but begin to watch it and you will realize there is more going on then meets the eye. It plays with horror conventions to both brillant and sometimes humorous effect. Brillant horror parody. |

3. The Campaign
It seemed like everybody got fed up with how long and how petty this year's election got. So it was perfect timing for The Campaign to come along. This is a brillant satire of the electoral process, that is maybe a little outlandish at times, but with how ridiculous this year's election got, it seems like elections could someday get as bad as The Campaign portrays. |

4. The Avengers
If you told most directors to take established characters, who have had their own films, and bring them together in a single team film, they would call you crazy. But not Joss Whedon. He turned this crazy concept into not only one of the most entertaining films of year, but surprisingly one of the funniest. Hands down The Avengers is the best superhero film of the year. |

5. Django Unchained
Since Kill Bill, Tarantino has been dealing in Revenge Fantasy. While Django does not have anything in particular against the person he is going after, the idea of a former slave getting revenge against a slave owner is very compelling. Django Unchained is as Revenge Fantasy at its finest. |

6. Hitchcock
A great film about film history and provides an intriguing look at one of cinema's greatest directors. |
7. Chronicle
A unique take on the found footage films. |
8. Skyfall
Definitely the best Craig-Bond film if not one of the best all-time Bond films. |
9. Casa De Mi Padre
A great send-up of Spanish Soap Operas. |
10. Prometheus
A decent Sci-Fi Thriller with neat ties to Alien. |
