Welcome once, welcome twice and welcome thrice to the 'Welcome to Movie Quest!' post about 'Movie Quest!'
This is a new blog which plans to look at a moviefilm every day for an entire year. This is no small task and even though Alex Navarro struggled through 30 Days of Hate with some truly awful films, this is going to take a certain degree of dedication. That said this is something I really want to accomplish so bring on the moviefilms! Also, I guess, I will be looking at new releases and films I already own and as such, like. So I guess I really shouldn't complain!I will be looking at specific directors each week filled in with other films I happen to catch. I will endeavour to look at the directors most important films and occasionally add related films such as Paul in an Edgar Wright week (Pegg & Frost connection) or Synecdoche, New York in a Michel Gondry week (Charlie Kaufman connection). Other than this there are no rules on what I can and will watch.
As I’m trying to work new releases into this then my choices will follow the time of the year. I plan to start with people like Tom Hooper, Danny Boyle and Darren Aronofsky as The King’s Speech, 127 Hours and Black Swan are yet to be released here in the UK and as time goes on we’ll hit summer and we’ll hit blockbuster directors like Steven Spielberg, Michael Bay and J.J.Abrams . Also I’ll try to avoid watching too many films from directors that I plan to feature later on and in addition, not every director I’d like to feature has a release this year so they will slot into slower box office weeks.
That really is enough about the rules I’ve given myself and now to have a look at what you can expect from this blog!
Each month I will post a programme of which directors you can look forward to with some information about them and a list of cinematic releases I plan on writing about, each Saturday I will post an intro to a director with more detailed information and a list of films I will watch from them, summarizing my thoughts in a Friday post, add to this a daily post about a film and it should add up to plenty of content.
Also it would be hugely beneficial to have some audience participation then that would be super, whether you want to suggest a little known film for me to watch (DM me, you’ll get a mention) or just to share your thoughts on a director (post under the week start or end posts) then please get involved and make this Screened community more communital! Yeah!
aaand this is the point where I bring the post full circle...
