Let's wait until NBC actually confirms it? I don't know, maybe it's just the pessimist in me. Harmon definitely doesn't seem like the kind of guy to pull of a prank like this, but it's also possible that the deal could fall through. We'll have to wait until the new Harmontown to get the full scoop.

I really would be interested to see what Harmon would do to "save" Community. Maybe he could get some of the writers he lost (most notably Chris McKenna) to come back. A lot of the characters just felt off in season 4. Especially Abed.

So was I the only one that thought season 4 was awful?

Nope. I mean, I've only read about the finale, but it sounds like a plate of hot garbage.

Very disappointed to hear this shell of a formerly great show will continue to shamble on. At least people are getting paid, I guess.

"Plate full of hot garbage" is extreme. I thought season 4 was totally decent. The problem is that when compared to previous seasons, "totally decent" turns into "plate full of hot garbage." Some very fixable problems I hope get addressed in season 5:

  • Jeff was too much of a dick. He had always been the sarcastic member of the bunch, but in season 5 he was just being a jerk for no reason. Seemed like a step back for the character.
  • Annie got really creepy. I never bought the Jeff/Annie thing and never will. S4 really cranked that up a notch, especially in the Inspector Spacetime episode.
  • Britta and Troy, is this even a relationship? It just seemed like it dropped in and out whenever convenient and was never fully explored.
  • The Dean living next to Jeff was never actually used for anything even though it could have been used for some funny stuff.
  • Overall there were some solid concept episodes but not a whole lot of laughs or direction.

Herstory of Dance

Glad we finally got a big amount of Britta. She's my favorite character, and this episode really had some great stuff for her. Some solid laughs too.

P.S. After cruising the Community Wiki I realized Britta is ten years older than Troy.

Economics of Marine Biology

This show's really starting to bum me out. Maybe it was just the latest episode, but the whole thing is just meh. The show seems to be trying to get back to the season one simpleness. That's a great idea in theory, but in practice it's less than successful. There's a distinct lack of, how you say, JOKES. WHERE ARE THE JOKES. I've been seeing gifs on tumblr from the various Community blogs I follow and it's really sad seeing the ones they choose to gif. I just think "oh, was that supposed to be a joke?" You never had to search for jokes in old Community. The stories weren't always there, but the show was consistently hilarious. A theory on reddit that was posited was the lack of Harmon in the edit room.

There's just a lot missing. It sucks to say that because, even though I am an internet user, I do not enjoy complaining. I even defended the show when the first episode aired and Giant Bomb already had a thread about how the Harmonless show sucked. Now, I'm starting to see they were not totally off. Hopefully the show gets to a fifth season so it can go out on a solid note.

Cooperative Escapism in Familial Relations

Was really impressed by this one. Felt more like a season 1 or 2 episode than season 3, which is what the other episodes felt like.

The Wire » R.I.P. Robert Chew

Robert was one of the few members of the cast able to compete with Williams. His scenes were some of the few times where Omar didn't complete run away with the show.

Argo. I didn't see many films this year so I definitely need to catch up.

General Discussion » Chevy Chase Has Actually Quit Community, For Real This Time

Surprising but unexpected. I wish he had decided to vacate before being part of the reason Harmon has left the show.

I can't imagine a show without that character. Community, in my opinion, balances the group dynamic well and just when you're tired of seeing one character stereotype they throw one of the others at you to keep things fresh. Hopefully the show will go on but I don't see how a show already partially "on the ropes" can continue to thrive.

Having that empty chair next to Troy will definitely be odd. I'd be fine with just a cardboard cutout or a lookalike. No lines, we just need a 60something who wears vests to stand with the group.

Harmontown 15 - Don't Ask Black People Time Travel Questions

Harmontown's finest hour. Dan fully indulges his fascination with race by bringing up people from different races and interviewing them. Adam comes up and talks about campaigning for John Edwards in 2007. Jeff has issues with Erin. Sharpie and Quark reach level 2 and face off against Admiral Darkstar. It's truly hilarious.

It's also coming back to Thursdays! [insert Chang pun here] It'll be replacing 30 Rock. Also, Up All Night is now a multi-camera show shot in front of a live studio audience.

Still the best scene in television history.

Off-Topic » What are your favorite and least favorite podcast?

Harmontown is my new favorite podcast. Every episode is an absolute delight. It's Dan Harmon, Jeff Davis, and special guests (including Greg Proops, Dan's girlfriend Erin, and Asperger's Adam). Dan goes on extended rants, while Jeff sits by with a zinger ready to go. In between this all we get a Dungeons and Dragons game. The podcast is recorded live so there's always a surprise, unexpected element to the shows.

Dan Harmon can't tell jokes

Dan Harmon sings Johnny Cash songs, replaces lyrics

Comedy Bang Bang has made me laugh more than about any other thing on the internet.Guests like Amy Poehler and Patton Oswalt are great on their own, but toss in James Adomian, Paul F. Thompkins, Andy Daly, Harris Wittels, Seth Morris, Jon Daly, Brett Gelman, Nick Kroll, Tig Notaro (and many, many more), and you get the internet's equivalent of heaven, every week. The impressions. The Phone Corner. The rules to Would You Rather. The characters. The iBrain. It's all just perfect.

Paul Giamatti is greatly depressed

Bombcast is just a no brainer. Everyone here listens to it, everyone here likes it.

The JV Club is clearly a podcast geared towards women, but it's accesible and enjoyable to anyone interested in hearing some of the world's funniest females tell stories of a more awkward time.

Tig Notaro

Gelmania is a portal into the mind of a mad man, who also happens to be one of the funniest people alive.

THE REVOLUTION WILL NOT BE TELEVISED.

THE REVOLUTION WILL BE PODCASTED.

The Fogelnest Files is another recent hit for me. Jake Fogelnest gets funny people to watch ridiculous videos. It's better than it sounds. It's not Tosh.0 in podcast form. It's oftentimes a look into forgotten pieces of the past. The trailer for the movie Soul Man, the mysterious progrock band Manakin, and Garfiled's unnecessary hatred of Mondays are all targets for Jake.
