For my first blog post on Screened.com, I'd like to pose a question to the community:

If you could choose 5 movies posters to hang up in your living room/family room (a space where a lot of visitors would see them), which would you choose? It could be for an aesthetic purpose, because you dearly love a movie, or perhaps as a touch of ironic humor (I have a movie poster from The Dark Crystal in my room for what I believe is this very reason, ha). For me, a person's choice of movie posters that they hang in their apartment or home tells me a lot about them - either in regards to their favorite movies or even their preference for certain styles of art. I'll list mine below with some brief explanations and links to the images, but post in the comments and let me hear about your choices.

Rashomon

Being a huge Kurosawa fan, this is one of my all time favorite films. It is difficult to choose one Kurosawa poster to hang, but I love the paint stroke look to this poster. Also, the fact that Mifune's character is shown as split several different ways really hints at the psychological/moral complexity of the film.

Heat

I just love this movie, and any poster which features a gun-wielding Val Kilmer in addition to Pacino and De Niro deserves high praise.

The Big Lebowski

I will be the first to admit that this picture is mighty fucking ugly. But, in truth, I find that kind of endearing. The fact that the Dude and Walter are presented with nearly angelic outlines is simply perfect. Having seen this movie well over 10 times, I can say that it still gets me laughing in new ways every time.

Moonraker
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/images/B001H3P8ZG/ref=dp_image_0?ie=UTF8&n=1055398&s=home-garden
I have this one hanging in my bedroom right now. I wouldn't say I'm a huge fan of the James Bond films; in fact, I don't much care for them. However, Moonraker is a notable exception in that I find parts of it so atrocious that it becomes, in fact, hilarious. Note that Bond and all of his bimbo babe friends are floating in space with no helmets on.

Blade Runner

God, what a great piece of science fiction moviemaking (and the book is excellent too, if you've never read it). This also seems a rather appropriate choice considering the Philip K Dick bender Screened was on not too long ago. Indeed, I felt like a black and white poster should make it to the wall, and young Harrison Ford looks downright contemplative there. Is he an android, or what?!

Anyway, those are my selections. Let me know about your "dream" picks or even about ones you currently have hanging up.
