General Discussion » The current state of the site.

@VioletEyedDragon said:

I think the biggest problem is that because there are no videos a bunch of users have left, and thus their is less discussion.

I don't think so. The video content was very slow for the last few months of Screened yet it was still a daily visit for me.

Up-to-date news and personality made the site, as well as a general sense of competence in the writing.

About a month after the BB takeover I left because the articles were outright bad. I think it was the Cabin in the Woods review that had a heading saying something along the lines of "Watch it at home." which is just lazy.

Whiskey put a lot of time and effort into providing engaging personalities who would deliver well written or well thought out content. That's why I had no problem paying for their services. BermanBraun however cannot keep me compelled enough to visit for free.

Am I the only one who feels like it looks like most of that action stuff is all from the same big set-piece? I have a sneaking suspicion this movie is going to be an hour plus of talking, and then 20 minutes of explosions. /hater

Even if that's the case, it's talking written by Joss Whedon. Which is great.

Breaking Bad » Season 4 Episode Discussion Thread

Braking Bad has always been a slow burn but when they break out their stylistic nature, they go all fucking out. That final shot of Walt in the Crawl Space just losing his shit was fucking amazing. I love this show more than life.

The Third Society » If The Second Annual Big Live Live Show Live taught me anything

It's that this movie was hideously overlooked when it was released.

Thoughts?

General Discussion » Favourite Sergio Leone movie?

For a Few Dollars More. The scene at the beginning where Manco is dealing the cards with one hand just gets SO uncomfortable.

And the Music box music that plays throughout the damn film is haunting, even to this day.

Editing & Tools » Community Showcase! August 27th!

Just finished a stupidly long blog called:

One Film-maker, One Theme #1: Darren Aronofsky and Parenthood

It's a very in depth look at parents in Aronofsky's films and the relationships they have and the like.

Also a review of Insomnia (2002) and a review of Garden State (2004)

Spy Kids: All the Time in the World » I Now Wish Harsh Career Death to Robert Rodriguez

@cinemandrew:

I dunno, man. If I remember Desperado (and I'll have you know I do remember Desperado), that was a pretty fucking great movie.

I'd certainly rather watch that over Jackie Brown, Kill Bill vol. 2 or Death Wish Death Proof.

I wrote a little piece about the web-series The Booth at the End
As an aside, I tried to create a page for this series but the site wouldn't let me. Anyone know what's up with that?

Glee » Who's your favorite Gleek?

Kurt, Kurt's Dad and Brittany
During that episode where Kurt tries to go straight, the interaction between them is amazing.

Kurt's Dad: "If things get serious...use protection."
Brittany: "...Does he mean like a burglar alarm?"

General Discussion » Too Many Sucker Punch Threads. Let's Talk About Black Swan

@Sidescroller said:
" This is the first I've heard of the situation, but motivations for her saying she did more work than she actually did make sense, given that she earned an oscar for her role.  That said, it appears it is just the body double speaking out against everyone else, and it could just be an attempt to get the limelight cast on her out of jealousy.    So what I'm saying is that this is just the plot of Black Swan happening among the production crew of Black Swan. "
whoa, meta.

Screencast » Questions - March 28th

Hey guys,

I was wondering if you guys have ever had any problems writing reviews based on movies you see in a cinema? In the past, I've found myself unsure if the entire range of emotions I've had towards a movie has been built up and if the 'event' notion of going to a cinema and seeing a movie has tainted my perspective. Watching DVD's feels much more impersonal to me and as a result I can often write a review on a much more objective basis without hype coming into the equation.

I dug it. I also dug Firefly and Drive, so it goes to show how much my luck sucks.

Hey, I'm Billy. I'm from the UK and watch too many movies. If you see a ridiculously long post about religion or philosophy in movies floating around these forums, I probably started it ^_^
