Just completely randomly, I decided to start keeping track. I'll try to add a short comment to each one as I go along as well. To be clear, movies I watch and have seen before will not be added.
1. The Expendables
Kind of meh, the great cast added to the movie, sure, but I couldn't help but feel like they were stuck in a movie that every one of them seperately has been in a dozen times already. I expected more. |
2. The Other Guys
Funny. Wow. Been a while since I've seen a comedy that reaches beyond poop jokes when trying to be funny. |
3. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
I've had so many opportunities to see this before, but I haven't. What an idiot. This movie is incredible. |
4. Transporter 2
Best in the series, great pace, delightfully stupid. |
5. Transporter 3
Not as good as 2, but still very good and worth it if you appreciated the second one. |
6. Donnie Darko
One of the most overrated pieces of crap in the history of the world. |
7. Primer
So damn committed to not even trying to make sense that I can't help but love this movie for it. |
8. Saw VI
Way better than V. That isn't saying much though. |
9. Diary of a Wimpy Kid
Very watchable and thoroughly enjoyable. The collective opinion on this from the world seems to be "meh" though. It's not "meh", it's more of an "okay" |
10. Inception
This is an action movie with some substance, and a thinking man's movie with action. That should give this a pretty wide appeal. |
11. Star Wars
Still watchable, and I understand how this might have been completely amazing when it originally came out. The ending is still one of the worst I've ever seen though. It shouldn't have taken a single shot to blow up the Death Star goddamnit :( |
12. 9
Looks absolutely mind blowing, the gaping plot holes are very mind blowing as well. |
13. Fantastic Mr. Fox
Simply a fun little adventure. Looks great as well. |
14. Scott Pilgrim vs. the World
The trailer tells you whether you're going to love or hate this, like, immediately. |
15. Beetlejuice
One of the weirdest movie I've ever seen. I really like weird movies though, so that's great. |
16. The Prestige
Watched this because it's from the Inception dude and I hadn't seen it before. Wasn't disappointed. Great story, great acting, great atmosphere. |
17. Batman Begins
Wanted to watch The Dark Knight, realized that mr Nolan did another Batman movie earlier, decided to watch this one first. Liked it, will watch The Dark Knight next. |
18. The Dark Knight
Couldn't help but wonder how good the movie would have been with a less-brilliant Joker in it, because the amazingly well characterized Joker is by faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaar the best part in this movie |
19. Edward Scissorhands
Proved to me once again that Johnny Depp is one of the greatest actors there is. |
20. Easy A
Can the charm of Emma Stone negate every single bad thing I would have to say about a movie? Apparently yes, yes it can. |
21. Oldboy
Watched this because of the Screened feature on revenge movies, and everything they said about it is true. That ending is messed up in ways that make you wonder what kind of a person wrote it. |
22. Shrek Forever After
Forget Saw, here's a true franchise that's ran into the ground so far it sticks out of China. It was pretty bad. |
23. Zombieland
It's a movie about a group of people living in a world full of zombies. It's funny though, so there's that. |
24. The Kids Are All Right
I consider it an accomplishment when a movie ONLY features characters talking to each other, without a single action-y moment in it, and can still keep my attention 100% throughout it's running time. A very well done movie and definitely worth the watch. |
25. Shutter Island
Great style, great acting and a decent enough plot to keep me interested. Seemed to change genres like...3 times during it's runtime though. I'm not sure how I feel about that. |
26. The Wizard of Oz
Maaaaaaaaaaaan...the lion looked funny :D |
27. Memento
Can Mr. Nolan make a bad movie? Obviously not. |
28. Funny People
Kind of dragged, but thoroughly enjoyable. I kept hoping throughout the movie that George dies, why am I so mean? :( |
29. Hitch
Completely okay. I have nothing more to say about this movie. |
30. Shoot 'Em Up
Absolutely brilliant. It's an action movie just like I want my action movies - absolutely insane. |
31. The Social Network
Expected this to be a really slow and boring pile of nonsense, instead it was a really enjoyable movie. Kudos for accomplishing this with your given subject matter. |
32. Pan's Labyrinth
Amazing movie. The ending made me go "What...you can't do that, can you?" which made it pretty awesome. ALSO MY LAST MOVIE OF 2010. |
33. Black Swan
This movie is superb, assuming I understood it correctly. |
34. Cube
Like Saw but more stupid. Saw is pretty stupid already, so yeah. |
35. Buried
Love it, love it, love it. I watched this after hearing about the concept just to see how the heck do you make this movie. They made it and it's very good. The ending couldn't have been more perfect. |
36. Sunshine
Brilliantly realized atmosphere is what this movie has. I loved the increasingly obvious sense of doom that kept building throught the movie. I'm also a huge fan of the completely random genre-switch near the end there when captain Pinbacker shows up. |
37. Machete
I got more laughs out of this movie than I got from the last 15 comedies I've seen combined. This is not even a comedy movie, so great. |
38. Hot Tub Time Machine
What a weird, weird comedy. The jokes were either gross, disgusting or hilarious. I liked the running joke with the one-armed dude, I didn't like the part where the other dude puked on a squirrel. |
39. Scent of a Woman
This movie, but like...50 minutes or so shorter, would probably be my most favourite movie of all time. |
40. Lars and the Real Girl
As per Rorie's recommendation I checked this out. Everything he said about it is true. |
41. Star Trek
My Star Trek knowledge is somewhere between zero and zilch, but I absolutely loved this. Will definitely be in line for the sequel, am too afraid to check out the TV series because I'm afraid it's way too old for me, especially after watching this thing. |
42. Iron Man
Always had an interest in this, and it's great. I've always had zero interest in any comic books ever, but it's still very enjoyable. Will definitely check out the sequel. |
43. Iron Man 2
Completely competent sequel. If you liked the first one, it's more of that. |
44. Watchmen
I liked every part of this a lot, but this is literally the only movie based-on-some-other-property that I've ever seen which actually seems like it was made specifically for the people who are familiar with the source material. Most of the time while watching this I felt like I was watching a part IV without seeing the first parts. |
45. Welcome to the Dollhouse
This was a weird one. On the surface it looks like a cute little kid-comedy, but the random themes of rape and kidnapping kind of negate that, so I'm not exactly sure what this was. |
46. I'm a Cyborg but that's OK
Someone came up with a brilliant premise and amazingly weird characters, but he forgot to write a plot for the characters to go through. |
47. White Oleander
It's 90 minutes of people being miserable, hating each other, and crying. That means it's probably not for anyone. I liked it a lot though, and yes, I know that means I'm probably messed up. |
48. Hellboy
I like how Hellboy is kind of slow and clumsy about his ways, makes for a way more interesting superhero |
49. Saw 3D
I've seen the previous six, so what the heck, right? I don't even need to tell you how stupid and bad this was, you probably knew/expected that anyway already. |
50. Unfaithful
A nice little piece of people being miserable again. Could have done without the random bit of murder though, it's was fairly believable before that part. |
