According to TMZ, Gabriela Cedillo was hit in the head by a steel cable that broke on the set of Transformers: Dark of the Moon, where she was an extra. Cedillo has suffered permanent brain damage. She has finally settled out of court with Paramount for $18.5 million. The shocking part, though, is that Cedillo says Paramount was not swift to pay for her injuries. Apparently Paramount initially only agreed to pay the nearly $400,000 medical costs, and then did "Everything they could to avoid payment." Paramount has so far only released this statement: "We are pleased that the Cedillo family has agreed to move forward with the settlement. This was a tragic accident and our thoughts and prayers remain with Gabriela."
If what Cedillo says is true, this could be a huge scandal on the part of Paramount, which made the most money of theatrical releases of any distributor last year.
