If I Picked the Oscar Nominations and Winners 2011
The only category I don't think I'm qualified to comment on yet is Best Foreign Language Film, so I've left that out.  Kim Ji-woon's I Saw the Devil is the only truly exceptional 2010 foreign language film I've seen so far, and I wouldn't exactly call that one Oscar material.  And I left off the short subjects because I hardly ever see short films, as well as the Best Original Song category.  Honestly, who gives a fuck about Best Original Song?  It's always a shitty song no matter who the nominees are.  Also of note, this is the year I would bring back a Best Adapted Score Oscar, due to Black Swan's and True Grit's exclusion from the Best Original Score category.

I'm actually surprised by how many nominations I would give Black Swan, but it's definitely worthy of each and every one.  And I'll bet The King's Speech and The Fighter will be better represented at the real Oscars.  It's regrettable that Paramount submitted Hailee Steinfeld for the supporting category of every major awards show, because her role in True Grit isn't a supporting one.  She's the lead.  The movie is about her character more than anyone else's, and she's in nearly every scene.  Maybe they didn't want to compete with Jennifer Lawrence for the title of hotshot newcomer, but I really hate it when studios do that.  Like Jennifer Connelly winning for Best Supporting even though she played the female lead in A Beautiful Mind.  Or Forest Whitaker winning Best Actor for his supporting role in The Last King of Scotland.  Bullshit.  I wish they'd just be honest about it, instead of just trying to weasel their actor into a category they think they have a better chance of winning.

As for Enter the Void's Special Achievement Award?  Fucking.  Insane.  You just have to see it.  I think a category for title credits might be something the Academy should consider bringing back.
