That's right, Project X writer Michael Becall is already planning the sequel despite overall poor reviews (3 stars here on Screened, a 27% overall on Rotten Tomatoes).

After one weekend the film made about $21 million which isn't that bad especially considering it only cost $12 to make. I guess thats what we get for paying for bad movies? Here's the source.Granted this is just the writer saying he wants a sequel, but how can a studio say no to a profitable film that goes after those high priority 18-25 males?

3 stars isn't necessarily a poor review, and the overall critical opinion really isn't surprising. The movie did what it promised- created an insane, massive party that pretty much turned riotous, and the audience followed a bunch of asshole characters that you hated throughout trying to reap the popularity benefits out of it because they are selfish assholes. It wasn't unfunny either, and the party results were entertaining to see play out. I am interested in seeing how they create a sequel, as the film didn't exactly leave much room for one. Maybe a crazy college party featuring the same guys? Hope not, because those guys were deplorable twats that I wanted to see die horribly.

I don't know why everyone's hating this movie, I thought it was a pretty fun time. Big crazy party movie, that's all.

It seems like a recent trend in Hollywood is to make your movie for such little money that its guaranteed to make a profit just from opening weekend curiosity sales.

I approve. I fucking loved that movie. Were I the one whom reviewed it, I would have given it 5 stars.

Red Band Trailer: Project X

Breasts? In MY movie trailer? It's more likely than you think!

Trailer 2: Project X

This puppy is going to party like he's never partied before if this trailer to the latest Todd Philips production is any indication.

Trailer: Project X

Hey, these kids are totally filming themselves having a wild party! Smells like The Virginity Hit Redux, but with Todd Philips on board it looks like there'll be some level of The Hangover-esque hijinks as well.
