  1. What the hell is this?
  2. Notice the Hunter S. Thompson references;
  • Rango's shirt.
  • His general attitude.
  • The bar he walks into.
  • AND THE MOST OBVIOUS, Raoul Duke is driving the goddamn car that Rango is about to hit the windshield of!
  • What the hell is this! D:

Plot- A pet lizard is in an identity crisis, and escapes his role as pet to discover himself. He finds a cowboy-esque town and through accidental actions of valor, becomes the sherrif. BUT IS HE ALL HE IS CRACKED UP TO BE, TO THESE PEOPLE, I MEAN?!

The music is amazing at the end, "The Bullfighter" by Carne Asada. Something you'd hear out of Red Dead Redemption! And yeah, I love the Hunter S. Thomspon references. I dig the way the film was shot, similar to Fantastic Mr. Fox, and I think the humor is serviceable enough to pass for an excellent animated time. And hey, perhaps the theme of "finding who you really are in an identity crisis" will come through well! Goofy stuff.

Saw this before True Grit last night, audience was silent throughout then I heard someone say 'That looks shit.' I echo the sentiments.

@SamFo: I'd rather die than watch a hack like Johnny Depp get any kin of award.

@HandsomeDead: Hmmm interesting thoughts... however, I think it will run unopposed for best animated feature!

Rango Trailer 2

Here's the latest trailer for Gore Verbinski's flat-out bizarre-looking animated film, starring Johnny Depp as a Hawaiian shirted lizard that wanders into the wrong town.

Rango Trailer

Raptors, snakes and Hunter S. Thompson's windshield are just a few of the dangers for Johnny Depp's character in Gore Verbinski's new animated adventure.

Rango Teaser

Gore Verbinski takes a stab at animation with this film starring Johnny Depp, Isla Fisher, Bill Nighy and...a mechanical goldfish? Sure, why not.
