This was...not the review I was expecting. What a pleasant surprise!

SO happy that this turned out okay. I've always wanted an animated movie that focuses on reptiles and the likes.
I actually thought it looked pretty good from the trailers...if just for the visual style. Glad there's a lot more to it than that.

This is an unexpected review.  Given that the trailers just want to slam it into your skull that Johnny Depp is in it, I figured this would be a piece of crap.

Well this review clears up a lot. The weird art conflicting nature of that art style and the trailer.

Have been hoping this would be good since I saw the first trailer. Great review Alex.

Am I the only one who thought of Django when I heard the title?

Hmm... I'm not sure how my daughter would like this.  (She's 2) She DOES like computer animated stuff, and she has been known to watch talking animals on screen.  Though not sure if that's enough to see it in theaters.  I guess this is a Netflix movie for me. :)

I was skeptical when I first saw the trailers for it, but I am now sold.

It's worth to see it in the theaters for the visuals alone, especially if you can see it on a good digital screen. And yeah, 2's probably too young. Lots of talking sections in this one.

I guess I'm in the minority. I've thought this film looked like it would be good all along, because it definitely seemed like it wasn't just a kids' movie, or rather that it was aimed at least partially towards adults.

Saw it last night. Brilliant movie that could stand toe-to-toe with Pixar's finest.

Great review, I plan on seeing this soon.

Excellent, hilarious, and completely bizarre movie.  The adults were the only ones laughing in my theater.  Pixar may have to bring their A-game this year.

I really enjoyed the film, what got me was the animation and the voice acting. Except for obviously Johnny Depp, I never thought "oh that's this actor doing this voice" it was always here is this character. I mean the story was a bit cliche western, even the old "there gonna close the farm" standard comes out, but how they play with that familiar setting is what got me excited.

I just got back from seeing this movie, and I thought it was great. I think this film is too deep and too complex for the audience that this film is marketed towards. It is risky film making like this that turns animated films into future classics.

Great review, so nice to see that this is a departure from the usual train of thought that ''Shrek made a boat load of money, let's just cast (insert celebrity) as the lead and people will go see it!"

It's terrible that studios are content with Jack Black doing voice work for a character that is essentially just Jack Black.  Billy West and other amazing talents the world over will actually put some character behind their voice work.  Though Billy West once admitted that Fry is so close to his own voice so that the producers would have a hard time replacing him if it ever came up.

I didn't even know this movie existed until seeing a trailer for it on the Happy Hour and went and saw it that night.  This will easily be one of my favorite films of the year and I absolutely loved Bill Nighy in this movie!

Here's to hoping that they cut together all the B-roll that they have from filming the actors for a special feature on the Blu-ray release.

I watched this last night great movie. It had the classic Spaghetti Western feel. I was very entertained by it.
Rango Trailer 2

Here's the latest trailer for Gore Verbinski's flat-out bizarre-looking animated film, starring Johnny Depp as a Hawaiian shirted lizard that wanders into the wrong town.

Rango Trailer

Raptors, snakes and Hunter S. Thompson's windshield are just a few of the dangers for Johnny Depp's character in Gore Verbinski's new animated adventure.

Rango Teaser

Gore Verbinski takes a stab at animation with this film starring Johnny Depp, Isla Fisher, Bill Nighy and...a mechanical goldfish? Sure, why not.
