Big surprise, can't wait to hear Alex go into further detail on the podcast.

Who are you and what have you done with Alex?!

Just came back from it. Ridiculously stupid and cliched, but it had a so-bad-its good kind of vibe to it, especially in the last half-hour. However, too much awful drama and writing, and the kid was a terrible, terrible actor. Also, anyone else notice the gratuitous product placement? Every single computer monitor has HP in the corner, every fight venue has a named sponsor, and Dr. Pepper is drunk unnaturally.

This summer was short on dumb fun?

I'm kinda happy this is decent. Because the trailer looked so stupid!

I saw this movie today with an old friend I haven't seen in years, because he was visiting for the weekend.  IT WAS AWESOME, AND FUN TO WATCH! Paul, my friend, enjoyed it also. Hugh Jackman, did a great job in the movie.

Oh, and don't worry about the kid.  He's not that bad, and certainly better than Jake Lloyd, who played Anakin Skywalker.

I was seriously expecting this to get either a one or two-star rating. Four? Alright... I just might see this.

Still would rather see Ides of March. October isn't the time for big dumb action movies.

Yeah, sorry, I'm going with my gut on this one. I shall not see it.

I like robots and I like boxing. Seems like a no-brainer.

of course alex puts the word "thing" in italics.

Alex you've probably obliterated whatever modicum of respect you've built up over recent years with the art-film crowd.

Made in Detroit, well sort of. I was on a film shoot in the old Ford factory just before Real Steel shot in the same factory. I feel special...

...I can't believe my eyes. I guess I'll catch it on cable some day? And with an embarrassment of cliches, I suppose it'll work as the base for a hell of a drinking game.

I knew it.

Before I can develope a valid opinion (which will be when this comes to Dvd), I can only judge by previews, and from those this film looks incredibly cliche packed with contrived sub-plots here and there (lonesome kid, lackluster love story, tear-jerking moments, etc). I can't see how this meritted so many positive reviews - but I've been wrong before.

This is going to be a defending your movie someday. I'm calling it.

I'm always down to watch a movie that is dumb in all of the right ways.
