Want to do away with all that messy "suspense" and simply find out who's going to become an alien shapeshifter? Watch this minute-long redband trailer!
Video posted by Rorie on Sept. 20, 2011
A shape-shifting alien terrorizes a group of scientists in the Antarctic, forcing them into a paranoid state when they realize it could be any one of them. With seemingly no chance of escape and from fear of letting The Thing spread, none of them can leave the remote station.

I think this has the potential to be really good. And, you know, Mary Elizabeth Winstead.
Also, I'd imagine this won't rely as heavily to the whole ''who's an alien'' suspense as the original did.
I watched the original recently and the special effects are still fantastic, it makes this 'update' seem a little underwhelming. Of course, special effects don't constitute a film's overall quality, but it does make this remake/prequel/thing seem even more pointless than it probably already is. I do, however, hold out hope it's actually good. It doesn't look as bad as I expected it to.
Could be good, the CGI quality certainly isn't hitting it out of the park though.
Mary Elizabeth Winstead makes this worth seeing.
But if this somehow sucks, I'll just watch the original and Big Trouble in Little China a couple times to fix things.
This actually looks like it has some respect for the source material.
Mary Elizabeth Winstead is super hot.
Sounds good to me!
I'll go see this, but I'm not happy about it.
Looks good. I'm glad they used actual Norwegian actors in this. As a Norwegian it's annoying when they use Americans to play Norwegians, like in Captain America. The pronounciation never sounds right and in these modern times there is no excuse not to use actors with the correct nationality.

Thor didn't have real Norwegians 'cause they were all busy with working on this movie.
Redband trailers should just be renamed to Spoiler Trailer.
I still can't believe this is a prequel as far I can see it's exactly like the original (although it has been a long time since I saw it).

Yeah I agree, but my guess would be that the filmmakers don't want to piss off fans of the original by calling it a remake, so instead they opt to call it a prequel that looks exactly like the original. That being said, I still want to see this.
Glad to see I'm not the only one who finds Mary Elizabeth Winstead to be insanely attractive. Oh, and yeah, I watched the trailer and... yeah... I was scared!

It's almost exactly the same, I love the original and the remake and this was pretty much the same thing over again.. with a slightly more attractive cast *shrugs*
not enough beards...
what the hell is the point in giving away best part of the plot in trailers these days? it's becoming a bit of a cliche'd thing nowadays. i may as well not go to the cinema to see this now, damn trailer gave best part of the good stuff away. now i gotta sit through all the shitty exposition..... fuck that.
The best part was when she's facing the camera and something horrifying is reaching out/happening behind her.
I'm guessing at the end of this movie: the dog gets away!
I'm not a Sci-Fi fan; but the original is one of my all time favourites. I'm curious about this new'ern; I'll probably watch it. However I'm also guessing I've seen all the special effects shots for this entire movie in this trailer.

More attractive you say, nothing is more attractive than Kurt Russel and a beard!
