I've only ever seen the 1970s version.

I am embarrassed to say that I have never seen any of these movies.

Seen the 70s one, IN THE 70s! lol Haven't seen it since, though. Haven't seen the other 2, looks like I'm not missing much.

i love the body snatchers films, only seen the first 2 i think (the 40's (?) and the 70's one)

i'd like to check out the 90's one but somehow the 2007 film completely flew under my radar, hadn't even heard of it till now, after seeing the few clips here, cant say im too fussed about it

EDIT- my bad it was a 50's film, still fricken old either way

Well, first off "BOOO!" for leaving out the best version of the movie, the original, but if you know me you'd expect that reaction from a classic lover like myself.  Now onto the rest of the stuff.  I've seen two of the three versions profiled in your video, the missing one being the most recent, and I agree with your assessment that the 1978 version does a much better job at building a sense of paranoia.  I will never forget the first time I saw Donald Sutherland scream at the end of that movie.  It was shocking to say the least because there was no internet to spoil the surprise.  When I saw the 1994 movie, I couldn't help but think of how artificial it felt.  How like an MTV video with its odd camera angles and distracting effects.  It was as if the film maker wasn't satisfied with the tension of the premise and need to add disgusting visuals to satisfy an audience weened on disembowelings thanks to the slasher films of the 1980's.

Having seen the original & The Invasion, I can clearly agree there is absolutely no contest there. However, I will say that this video feature was far more horrifying and creepy than I found either of those films to be!

Anyone else remember the man faced dog? god that thing creeps me out.

I personally LOVE the version that takes place in a High School. Anyone remember this movie with Josh Hartnett as the dope selling kid, who teams up with the school nerd and the school hottie to reveal the teachers and parents to have been taken over by alien hosts.
Great/ Awful Movie

This was inevitable. The Invasion... so bad....

Nicely done. I would have liked the see the original film in there, instead of the most recent one since it has almost nothing in common with the rest, but whatever. Also if you like annoying child characters being killed off, check out The Blob remake.

There's a nine part interview series on Ferrara's homepage (which is a bit messy). The questions came from users. Here's part one:

And here are the other parts:

He is such a cool dude.

Classic doesn't always mean best.  In the case of The Invasion of The Body Snatchers and The Thing the first remakes are simply better films on every mark.  The original was good for it's time but it just doesn't hold up well over time and the sappy pro flag waving ending just spoiled it.

I can't say I have as much love for the 94 remakes as Rorie but the Kaufman 78 version is not only the best version but by far holds up better than any of the other versions over time.  I also like Nimoy's pivotal speech better because rather than attempting to scare the audience in a classic horror film sense as the Ferrara version does he simply lays out a very logic and convincing argument.  Let's face it, Nimoy's character is right on several counts.

Also Kafuman's version does such an excellent job of showing how modern cities strip, depersonalized and depower the individual.  Bureaucracy is much the antagonist as the pod people.

Invasion of the Body Snatchers is such a fantastic film. It's a shame so many people have had the ending spoiled for them. I saw it somehow without knowing what happens, and it was striking.

I don't even remember hearing about  1994 version of the film! Feel......odd

I should check out the 70s version out. I watched and greatly enjoyed the original. As for the invasion.....ya I really didn't like it, the stuff with the kid also made it harder to watch.

Get that screening room live show up! I missed it and want to here what you guys both had to say.

Anyway, the 78 version is the best version, and remains terrifying even today. Especially that last shot!
