The remake is a horrible guilty pleasure.

One of these days Rorie!

I love the remake way more than I should, but that's mostly because I watched it so many times as a kid.

The car chase in the original is just insane and makes up for how amateur the rest of the movie is.

The remake was my first Vinnei Jones movie, I wish he could get some good roles again.

I must've watched the remake five times or so, it's not that great of a movie, but damn it's oddly enjoyable, at least in my opinion, so can't wait to watch what the lovely Rorie thinks.

I don't know about this choice... The remake has Timothy Olyphant. The original doesn't. That might be enough for it to win.

Now I'll have to check out the original, you had me at 40 minute car chase.
The remake holds a special place in my heart, despite the Hollywood feel to the movie you can also sense a love of cars and a general respect towards stealing them.

I like this feature but i think it might be better if presented as more of a discussion/debate between Alex and Rorie, but then that might end up crazily long

either way I much preffer the original, I can't stand Bruckheimer at the best of times, let alone Nic Cage

@flap_jackson: Olyphant's voice here is actually really weird, high-pitched and awkward. He's not at his best.

I have never seen either of these movies... thought I would just put that out there...

@cronoman66: We've done those before, in the Worse or Worserer. I'd like to do more of them; just waiting on Alex to pick out movies he'd like to tackle.

He died while filming the sequel?  holy shit. you know they were filming that...

My black heart demands that I find that footage!

The original has a 73 Mustang as its big car. The remake has a 67 Shelby as its big car. The sequel wins in that regard as the 67 Shelby is a masterpiece and by 73 Mustangs were beginning to lose what made them great in the design. When I got a new car it was a 2006 Mustang because they went back to that classic look for the model and if I could have afforded a Shelby, well then I could have afforded a 67 and would have bought one of those instead.

I just remember that the remake had a really awkward sex scene.

The remake is fun but also pretty forgettable. I need to watch the original.

Great video although I wished there was a "Best Eleanor" category.

FYI. Joey, there seems to be an audio bug in the intro to Best Car Chase.
