According to Deadline, director Jose Padilha has officially made the deal with actor Joel Kinnaman to play Alex Murphy in the upcoming reboot. Kinnaman was previously set to star in a King Arthur film entitled Arthur & Lancelot but that got put on hold. Kinnaman may be familiar to those who watch AMC's The Killing as the character Stephen Holder. I really don't know what to think of this casting as I'm not familiar with the guy but since Padilha is directing, I'm sure this movie will turn out pretty good. Do you guys feel the same way or am I just an idiotic wackjob? I mean sure he'll never replace Peter Weller but he has to be better than Robert John Burke right?

This... could go either way. Sure, Peter Weller's irreplaceable as the ORIGINAL Alex Murphy, but we need to move onto other people for these iconic characters.

That's if the project actually gets off the grounds.

Gonna say this can only be bad. Here's the thing, you take an idea that can just keep going chronologically into the future and reboot it, that tells me you don't have a lot going on creatively. What I mean is, they can make a "new" Robocop, as in a new person turned into the robocop, and still be part of the original Robocop universe. Instead they're choosing to start over with the same character which tells me they just want to rehash the same memorable moments from the original, but watered down.

Awesome! I love RoboCop.

I personally stopped caring whenever Darren Aronofsky left the project.

With that said, I still haven't watched either of the Elite Squad movies. I've heard they were awesome from some people, and I've heard the opposite from others. Screened community, help me out here.
