Plot
Robot and Frank is set in a near future where Robot technology has advanced to the point of them being used as humanoid assistants. Frank (Frank Langella) is an aging man who lives alone in his house in the suburbs. He suffers from an increasingly severe case of dementia, something that worries both his son and daughter, but that he refuses to admit about himself. His house is a mess, and his relationship with his successful son is strained. One day his son brings him a robot companion, a model designed exclusively to improve Frank's health and lifestyle. Initially wary and distrusting of the robot, Frank's feelings towards his new companion change when he realizes that the robot has no built-in sense of morality. Indeed, it is not even programed to obey laws, because it's main goal is to focus on rejuvenating Frank's health. Frank uses the robot to feed his kleptomania, and teaches it lockbreaking skills he used as a jewel theif in his younger years. Convincing the robot that his hobby of theft is stimulating to his mental health, he begins planning his next heist with his new partner in crime.
