A year before Usagi Tsukino awakened to her powers, Minako Aino was discovered and awakened by Artemis (another cat with special powers besides Luna) during her stay in London, England. She gave herself the alias, "Sailor V" (for Venus) because of her fascination with the planet and decided to attack any evil forces that threatened the city. She had a potential love interest at the time, but gave in after learning that the boy she wanted was already taken by another acquaintance of hers.

Minako returned to Japan after her battles in England and resumed her duties as an middle school student and her work as "Sailor V" up until meeting Sailor Moon and the other Senshi Members and joining them in their battle to protect the universe from further harm after recollecting her thoughts from being a loner in battle. She hopes to become an pop idol in the future.
Minako appeared first as the
Sailor Venus's manga appearance
protagonist in the "Sailor V" manga, which premiered before the "Sailor Moon" manga, where she is still a main character. Her original televised appearance was in the "Sailor Moon" anime's 33rd episode (the dub's 29th episode), "Sailor V Makes The Scene".
Personality and Traits
Minako is not only the most cheerful out of the other main characters, she is also an boy-crazy romantic (along with Makoto Kino) and uses her spare time exercising and preparing for her future battles.
