Starting next week, Netflix will offer every single episode of SNL on its Instant service. If 35 seasons’ worth of programming simply isn’t enough to satisfy your insatiable lust for late-night sketch comedy, then you’ll appreciate knowing that each new episode from now through 2012 will debut on Netflix Instant the day after air date. I can only presume that the cut-off date was picked in anticipation of the Maya apocalypse.
What this really means is that any thoughtful argument you have with your pals about which season, cast or comedian was the best or worst on SNL will now have immediate evidence to decide the discussion.
Having got a taste of what it's like to be on a live show (and weekly one, now)... I can't help thinking this'll put a bit more stress on SNL's current cast. Just imagine... every little mistake you could make being preserved forever and readily accessible to anybody with the idlest of impulses. The thought makes me that much more grateful I was able to destroy all the archives of my college radio days...
Anyway, you might like to know that Psych, In Plain Sight, Monk, Destination Truth, Eureka and Battlestar Galactica (the new one) will be available on Netflix Instant this for the first time, as well.
