Hang on to your indie-nerd hats, because Scott Pilgrim just got Beck'd. Via Pitchfork, news has appeared that Beck (you know, that "Loser guy?) will be writing all the songs for Michael Cera's fake band in the movie, SEX BOB-OMB. Those four songs will feature Beck on instruments, the actors from the movie providing their respective vocals, and will be found on the soundtrack album, alongside unreleased material from Broken Social Scene (who will be credited as Crash and the Boys), Beck (not as SEX BOB-OMB) and Metric.
 
The full soundtrack will be available August 10th, and also includes songs from The Rolling Stones, T. Rex, Frank Black, and even the Plumtree song "Scott Pilgrim," which was the inspirado for comic creator Brian Lee O'Malley's naming of the character. You can check out the full soundtrack below. Whadda ya think kids? This seem like a quality soundtrack? Or are you not feeling the Beckness?

EDIT: what an amazing soundtrack, and what an amazing artist at the helm of, if I dare say, "score." I love Beck, especially his early stuff, so this is awesome

I'm really hoping that this movie is written well. I kind of want it to succeed.

Broken Social Fucking Scene Woot

Twixt the game's art and soundtrack and the pedigree of the movie, this will either be a massive case of everyone-involved-is-too-good-for-this-to-be-good OR the most awesome thing ever.

I want you all to know that it's very hard to be living right now as a man who didn't like the books. I must brace myself for every movie website or Twitter feed.

I think I just peed myself. Metric is bullshit though.

I'm confused. Beck is good. Sex Bob-omb is bad.
 
Will he be purposefully writing and performing bad songs?

Kind of weird that Prodigy's "Invaders Must Die" isn't on there, despite being very prominent in the trailer. I personally don't care for any of the bands listed (though, to be fair, I've had limited exposure to pretty much all of them) so I vote "meh" on this issue.

Audiophiles rejoice, this soundtrack is awesome!

Did anybody else look at that headline and see "Broken Neck"?

I'd be really interested to see what happens in the Mushroom Kingdom when a SEX BOB-OMB goes off.

With all those elements combined....I could not be less interested in this movie.

I like Beck, Broken Social Scene and Metric, so this is all good news to me.  But where's the Daft Punk? ;-p
