How did it go with DVD sales?

I loved this movie, a lot, and am extremely disappointed it flopped but I was wondering how the sales went with DVD and Blu-Ray. Did they at least make a profit? Enough to make a second?

Thanks.

According to wikipedia, it topped the UK sales charts and earned over $3,000,000 in the first week of it's release on home media or whatever. If it hasn't yet, I'd imagine it's getting close to breaking even, but there's no chance that they're going to make a sequel to it. The story was totally contained in the movie and after how hard it flopped at the box office, I doubt that they'd take another shot at it.

I thought this movie was brilliant also. I bought it and hope it sold well. I, however, do not want a sequel.

The way I see it, the story is completely self-contained... theres nothing more thats needs to be said, O'Malley himself has said he doesn't plan on exploring that universe any further at present and I stand by the realm of thought that the creator should have absolute say on these sorts of things.

Awwww, I really enjoyed Scott Pilgrim though. :(

A UK film critic called Mark Kermode believes that Scott Pilgrim will become a bigger hit down the line, with everyone saying that they liked the film from the very beginning. The sales figures that TheFreeMan quoted seem high to me (although I'm not sure if it is relative to other films), but, yeah, there's little chance of a sequel.

I've got the Blu Ray, and urged everyone to buy it. It's weird that's it's got cult classic status, I thought it would make $60-80 million easy.

I guess if your comedy doesn't have Judd Appatow's name branded, it's going to flop.

Still not making a profit. Proof there is a god.

According to various sources I can find on the internet it sold about 190,000 copies its first week out for a total of around $3.5 million. That was enough to top at least the UK sales charts. However, it still doesn't come close to the film making its budget back let alone marketing. Unfortunately, Scott Pilgrim seems to be a case of a film being too niche for its own good. People who like it really really like it and everyone else doesn't care. It will probably go down as a cult classic, it might even make money in the long run, but it is slowly going to be forgotten by society at large.

Hat tip to the UK for supporting their boy.

Any news on this?

I've seen it in stores for a bargain price, so I assume it only found a limited audience.

Yet again.

There can't be a sequel, the story was the story of the books and the guy who wrote them said he is not going to do anything else Scott Pilgrim so it couldn't happen if he wasn't involved and if he wasn't then Edgar Wright wouldn't so it would be total trash.

Hope it does well on DVD and on the notion of a sequel, like many, I don't think it needs one, despite my love for the franchise and my always open hankering for more. If anything, I'd love to see more animated things, but that seems like a bit of a stretch fantasy D:

I'd love to see more animated stuff! But as I said in my other thread -

I get what you mean, it's just that I never knew of Scott Pilgrim before the movie so I feel I am missing out on the experience of waiting for the next Scott pilgrim comic and watching the movie on release etc.

I'd like to see a spiritual successor from Edgar Wright, maybe with a different comic.

Anyways, a lot of the Scott Pilgrim fans are poor, and a bunch of them are expert at getting free stuff. It might do well in the future, but it might be a while before it sells very well. I still haven't picked up my Blu-Ray 'cause I've seen that movie six times in the last year, four of those times in theaters.

This is OT but I went to the IMDB boards to talk about the movie but they are mostly trolls. Any active boards on it? Seems our is fairly dead.(I mean SP boards not the forums as a whole).
