Scott Pilgrim vs. the World International Trailer

Now with more boob punching and Canadian hipster love!

Good news Scott Pilgrim vs. The World fans (particularly those of you in or around L.A.): not only is there a new international trailer up for the movie, Universal and Ubisoft are throwing a party tonight to promote the new tie-in game...and it's FREE! It's a first come, first served event that starts at 8PM and runs to midnight and promises beer, dancing, Scott Pilgrim game demos and free schwag. Check out the nifty flier below for all the details. Living in NorCal I'm bummed that I can't queue up for an hour to stand around with beer-guzzling fanboys and industry reps, but then I remember that, hey, I don't live in SoCal. Thank goodness for small miracles.

Oh wow, I live 5 mins from that place. But that flier scares me. Are these events ever worth going to ?

That's quite weird.

This looked awesome right up until the point she said epic. I hope this movie won't be filled with crap like that.

@Killjoi: I've been to some Ubisoft events before and they're generally worth it. If you live so close maybe you can be one of the first in line, pop in, play the game, pilfer some beer and split before it gets too crowded.

If you do do that, please let us know how the game is. I'm dying to get my hands on it.

Yup, that line killed it.

@Matt: I'll go then. I haven't played a good brawler in a long while so I'm looking forward to the game as well. I'll let you know how it plays tomorrow :)

Enjoyed the Pee Bar, hated the "epic".

@Killjoi: Rock on man! If the line's too long don't feel obligated to get the scoop for us, though.

I really want to like this movie, but I'm not sure if it's too geeky to admit that in public or not.

He wears a lot of Smashing Pumpkins shirts.

@TheClap:  I noticed that too. Maybe they want us to think the SP stands for Scott Pilgrim, instead of what they actually are.

I just, I don't know, getting nervous about this one. The over-abundance of video-game references looks like it may actually get annoying as none of them are especially clever, they're just kind of there. "Get a life". A bar indicating urination! Its on, like DONKEY KONG! All of those just kind of fell flat. I will see this because I believe in Edgar Wright but we shall see how I appreciate the film itself upon release. Also, Kieran Culkin is getting to me as well. Was no one else available for the bit role of best friend?

All of you that are just all over this thing just because of the use of one line you didn't like is kinda depressing, so much negativity. And personally, I like Kieran Culkin as the gay best friend, Wallace Wells. He seems pretty good for the roll. I'm really excited for this movie and I will never be afraid to say that about any movie.

@billygoat117: It's a running joke in the comics actually, and yeah it's based off the SP abbreviation. One of the books is even called "Scott Pilgrim and the Infinite Sadness."

Excellent. The humor is still great, especially that window jump; again, pure Edgar Wright. I'm afraid to say that this has some of the excitement levels of Neveldine/Taylor's Crank, which means the film might bog down A LOT in small places, which I really hope it doesn't or at least deals well with.

I have this problem with the Big Lebowski; it's funny, but after he gets the rug stolen AGAIN, I start to only look at the screen at key moments. The movie is amazing, don't get me wrong, but... yeah.

Totally excited for this movie!

@Dauragon:  Oh, nice. I had no idea. It's nice that they're in on the joke, instead of just trying to pull a fast one.

I really really REALLY really really hope he gets dumped in the end.
Be so worth watching.

I wonder if that user DukeTogo still thinks this movie is dumb. I hope he comes in to repeat himself for the third or fourth time. That'd be awesome.

A lot of these lines read better on a page than they sound coming out of an actor's mouth. But it still looks alright. As long as you go in expecting a hipster/nerd fantasy and that concept doesn't completely put you off, you'll probably find something enjoyable about it. There are some things about the series I don't like (Ramona isn't always exactly likable, too much hipster lingo), but overall it's pretty fun.

Looking good. The only thing I'm really worried about is how are they going to be able to fit all six volumes into a 2 hr(?) movie.

Defeat seven evil ex-boyfriends? That's easy. Once my girlfriend made me defeat twenty-five evil kittens. At least, I'm pretty sure they were evil.
