I am ashamed I didn't see it sooner, and so should everyone else,

go watch it it's everything that anyone who visits a whiskey Media site would like,

I somehow had my doubts, within the first minute, I knew I was in for a good ride, this Movie, is one of the best movies I have watched,

just let that sink in for a minute,
Sure it's not a Oscar piece, but as something of pure escape, something fun, it's up there,

You owe it to yourself to watch this movie, it's awesome, if you like Videogames/Comics/Great movies

Watch It!

While it does follow the generic movie plot(things go good, then bad and then good again) it does it with a certain style that I loved and the fact its kinda like a real life video game as well as having video game references had me hooked! Bought the game too you should check it out if you have a PS3/360

I'm with you, Red. I'll admit that I had my reservations about this film before it was out. In fact, I'm pretty sure I expressed such views here on Screened and that I couldn't understand why people were so hyped. I was happy to swallow my words when I saw it in the cinema. It's good, solid fun!

It was probably the most straight-up "fun" movie I've seen in all of 2010.  Not a perfect movie in any sense, but thoroughly enjoyable in the end.

I like all three of those things, and somehow I still didn't think Scott Pilgrim was "fucking awesome".  It had wonderful effects, and some very funny parts, but the story was triter than trite, and it's hard for me to even think of a movie with more 2-dimensional characters.  Aside from kicking people a lot, there is nothing interesting about any of the characters (save for Scott's roommate and his ex-girlfriend/drummer, who were good, but just made it even more glaring that the main characters actually had no personalities.)

I'm a HUGE Edgar Wright fan, and I know that he can make interesting characters work with genre stories.  Even in Spaced, where really none of the characters are likeable, they still at least have personalities, so you wanna watch.  Scott Pilgrim unfortunately lacked any of that, and seems to me like the definition of style over substance.

Oh no, I love Edgar's work, he is brilliant, And while it does have a great style, in my opinion it works in harmony with what is presented, (You have to remember it's based off the book) What Edgar said about it was, in a Musical, when emotion gets to strong to show through dialogue, they sing or do a musical piece, well this is just like that instead of singing they are fighting,

And I kind of appreciate that, it's a fresh approach.

Nope. Utter garbage.

I liked it, but was divided over how goddamn pandery it was to video game culture. There's a wrong way and a right way about including references in your work; it was tantamount to having flashing neon signs declaring "THIS IS A REFERENCE" every couple of minutes. I visibly cringed when he said "I'm getting a life!" and grabbed the 1-up. Could be because it was included in every advert I ever saw of it, mind.

That and Scott was pretty much a dick who I couldn't care less about. I know everyone takes him to task over it (significantly moreso in the comics now I've read them) but by the end they've pretty much forgiven him for being a dick, which was utterly undeserved. I realise in the context of a film, character arcs are going to be much shorter and much less subtle than 6 books worth of material, but still.

Bonus points to it for having a non-stereotypical gay character who's sexual orientation wasn't related to the plot, though. Kieran Culkin was excellent in the role.

Same here.  I'm actually standing at the front of said boat with one foot on the guard rail pointing dramatically toward the horizon.

well it's not a boat but it's close enough.

I wanted to like it more, but after watching it, it was just fine for me. I understand in the comic there was probably a lot more room for the story to breathe, but in the film it sometimes felt like it was kinda rushing through to keep up with the number of evil exs. Overall though, not too bad.

The editing was fascinated, hopefully something we'll see used in other films and I really liked the movie aswell.

I absolutely loved it, don't really want to see it again in case I'm no longer wowed and just pull it apart.

PS freaking loved the vegan police. The high five totally sold me on loving the movie.
