Scott Pilgrim vs. the World Trivia

  • The extended shot of Ramona taking off one of her boots whilst Scott is cooking was put in specifically by Edgar Wright for his friend Quentin Tarantino due to Tarantino being a notorious foot fetishist.
  • The art included behind the actors during the opening credits represents each of the characters in the movie. For example; Anna Kendrick's features coffee stains, a reference to the fact that her character works at the Second Cup coffee shop.
  • Jason Schwartzman left the movie in the middle of the filming of his fight scene to travel to England to get married.
  • It took 33 takes for Michael Cera to throw the package into the garbage bin without looking.
  • When Scott takes the Clash at Demonhead CD away from Knives, he puts it back on the rack under the section for Beck. Beck wrote many songs, including the songs by Sex Bob-omb, in the movie.
  • Scott and Stacy Pilgrim's ages were lowered by one year for their film counterparts (from 23 to 22 and from 19 to 18 respectively). Perhaps intentionally, this alteration made Scott Pilgrim the same age as Michael Cera at the time of the film's release.
  • The line "everything's just peaches and gravy" is a reference to Beck's songs 'Peaches and Cream' and 'Nicotine and Gravy' (both on Midnite Vultures).
  • The 1-up icon that Scott receives in the movie is part of the character design for the Scott Pilgrim vs. the World Video game.
  • An animated short called "Scott Pilgrim vs. the Animation" was featured on Adult Swim and featured the backstory of Scott, Kim and another girl named Lisa Miller in high school together somewhere in Northern Ontario. Michael Cera and Alison Pill reprised their roles from the film, and also featured Mae Whitman (Lisa Miller) and Jason Schwartzman (Simon).
  • The band Crash and the Boys is named after the 1992 NES game Crash 'N the Boys: Street Challenge.
  • When Scott finds Ramona at the party at the beginning of the film, the song "I Heard Ramona Sing" by Frank Black starts playing, but cuts out before the lyrics start.
  • The Clash at Demonhead band is named directly after a Nintendo Entertainment System game that was released in 1990 that was also The Clash of Demonhead. Coincidentally, it was also Bryan Lee O'Malley's very first video game.
  • The band, Crash and the Boys, is introduced as being from Brampton (a smaller city outside of Toronto). Brampton is Michael Cera's home town.
  • Edgar Wright said stated that in musicals when the emotion is too strong characters break out into song. But in this movie when the emotion is too strong, the characters break into fighting.
  • After Roxy's fight, Scott wears a shirt that says 4 1/2.
  • Alison Pill and Marc Webber had to learn their instruments for the film. Michael Cera already knew how to play bass.
  • According to Edgar Wright, the package that Scott orders is a copy of Wright's previous film: Hot Fuzz (On Blu-Ray too!).
  • The Smashing Pumpkins shirts Scott wears in the film denote his replacing of the meaning of the acronym SP. Obviously, to him, it is his initials, and his Zero shirt (also a Smashing Pumpkins shirt) represents his number as a relationship in Ramona's life.
  • Scott Pilgrim is based on the name of a Plumtree song. Scott wears a Plumtree shirt in the movie, and the song itself plays when introducing Wallace and the apartment.
  • At the very end of the credits, an animated Scott Pilgrim runs on screen and breaks apart the "The End" text before teleporting away. This rendition of Scott is in fact sprite art created for the downloadable video game Scott Pilgrim vs. The World: The Game, which was released as a tie-in with the movie.
  • Although Anna Kendrick (cast as Stacey Pilgrim, age 18) plays the younger sister to Michael Cera's character (Scott Pilgrim, age 22), in real life Kendrick is nearly 3 years older than Cera.
  • The wide open eyes of Knives Chau was not created with any practical or CGI effects. Ellen Wong, who plays Chau, did it herself.
  • Edgar Wright thought of casting Michael Cera as the titular character after watching episodes of Arrested Development (2003) during the writing of Hot Fuzz (2007).
  • During the editing process, Edgar Wright showed filmmakers Quentin Tarantino, Jason Reitman, and Kevin Smith a rough cut of the film, to which they responded positively.
  • Edgar Wright obtained permission to use the famous theme song from the NES title, The Legend of Zelda , by writing a letter to Nintendo, saying that it is considered to be "the nursery rhyme of this generation".
  • The stunt doubles of Lucas Lee are actually the stunt doubles for Chris Evans.
  • While the movie is named after the second book in the series, it covers the events of all six books: Scott Pilgrim's Precious Little Life, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, Scott Pilgrim and the Infinite Sadness, Scott Pilgrim Gets It Together, Scott Pilgrim vs. the Universe, and Scott Pilgrim's Finest Hour.
  • In 2009 Edgar Wright started a year long photo blog where he would take at least one picture every day and post it on his website. Much of the cast and crew appeared in this daily photo blog while they were shooting, most of the time with no direct credit given and their faces partially obscured in some way.
  • One of the evil exes that Scott (Michael Cera) must defeat is Roxy Richter (Mae Whitman) who previously played Cera's character's girlfriend in "Arrested Development" (2003).
