I'm not going to say Quantum of Solace was good or even half-good but the overarching conspiracy was pretty freaking interesting and I'd hate to see that get thrown away.
Especially seeing how it got more fleshed out in Quantum. Yes, seeing Bond brood like a final fantasy character wasn't great and there are some other things you can hate on but I really like that plot line.
Also I really enjoyed Casino Royale, especially after the mess that was Die Another Day.
"As someone who found Casino Royale interesting, and Quantum of Solace nearly insufferable, all the casting decisions here sound plenty good to me, and the notion of this being a stand-alone, unconnected film does my heart good, because holy hell was I turned off by the direction Quantum of Solace went in. Hopefully Mendes and the pile of contracted screenwriters can turn this thing in a direction worth paying attention to."
