Overview

Spending ten years on the air, Smallville follows Clark Kent as from high school to his career at the Daily Planet as he discovers his destiny to become Superman.

Seasons

Season One

The first season saw the introduction of series regulars and usually consisted of villains who gained their powers from the fragments of Krypton, the meteor rocks, as the source of their powers. It also saw Clark dealing with his Alien Origins, specifically that his arrival on earth caused the indirect death of love interest Lana Langs' Parents. Clark also saves Lex Luthor from death and the two quickly become close friends. At the end of the season his parents are put in danger from a man who has discovered Clark's secret as well as Lana Lang being caught in a cluster of Tornadoes that have hit Smallville. Also the Lex Luthor everyone knows slowly starts his path towards the criminal mastermind we know.

Season Two

The second season deals with the aftermath of the the tornadoes. Clark learns more about where he came from as he fights his destiny a little. Clark and Lana grow closer, creating a division in his friendship with Chloe Sullivan who has feelings for Clark as well. During this season Pete Ross discovers Clark secret, causing a temporary rift between the two but they work out their differences by the end of the episode. Christopher Reeve makes a few guest-appearances as Dr. Virgil Swann who knows a lot about Clark and his origins. Terrance Stamp makes his series debut as the AI Jor-El, who portrays that Clark should rule over Earth, leading Clark to rebel. The Daily Planet is introduced in the early part of the season in which Clark overcomes his fear of heights, leaping from the Planet to LuthorCorp. Red Kryptonite is introduced which brings out a more ambitious form of Clark Kent. Season 2's finale saw Clark Kent destroying the spaceship he came to earth in, as well as leaving Smallville while slipping on a Red Kryptonite Ring. Also Lex is seen married in the finale and being left on a flying plane after being drugged.

Season Three

Season 3 continues Clark fighting Jor-El's plans for him as well as fighting guilt over what Jonathan had to do in order to bring Clark back from Metropolis, asking Jor-El for help. Lex deals with a mental break after being stranded on an island for quite some time. He finds out Clark's secret however due to his illness he forgets it in electro-shock therapy. Pete struggles with the burden of Clark's secret, to point of being physically assaulted. Also Morgan Edge, Maggie Sawyer and Perry White make appearances throughout the season. Superman's red cape makes an appearance in a scene where Clark's future is depicted. Clark also learns his powers are solar based in this season. Pete Ross leaves this season after being assaulted protecting Clark's secret. Lanaleaves for Paris at the end of the season, and Lex and Chloe vie to put Lionel Luthor in Prison. At the end, Clark gets taken by Jor-El, Chloe apparently dies, and Lex is apparently poisoned.

Season Four

Season 4 concentrates on Clark starting to accept Jor-El as he unites the stones of knowledge. Clark's friendship with Lex continues to be strained as he learns to distrust him less and less. Erica Durance joins Smallville as it's incarnation of Lois Lane, who is the cousin of Chloe Sullivan. Also Mr. Mxyzptlk, Bart Allen and Sam and Lucy Lane show up in Smallville. Lana deals with being possessed by an ancestor and Chloe learns Clark's secret. Black Kryptonite makes an appearance, splittling Lex into two persona's of himself, also Margot Kidder makes an appearance as an associate of Virgil Swann. In the season finale once Clark collects all the stones, gets transported to the Arctic where the Fortress of Solitude forms as another Meteor Shower falls on Smallville.

Season Five

Season 5 picks up where the previous season left off, with the town dealing with the aftermath of the second meteor shower. Clark also temporarily loses is powers in the beginning of the season, before being shot and getting his powers back. Clark also deals with college life and another shot with Lana. Clark continues to distrust Lex. Milton Fine/Brainiac makes an appearance along with Arthur Currey/Aquaman, Victor Stone/Cyborg, and Andrea Rojas. Jonathan Kent runs for Kansas Senator against Lex Luthor. Also in the 100th episode Jonathan Kent is elected Senator, Clark reveals his secret to Lana and proposes, however she dies and Clark goes to the Fortress to beg Jor-El to help him change what has happened. In doing so, he alienates Lana, who turns to Lex and after a confrontation between Lionel and Jonathan Kent, which ends with Jonathan's heart failing in front of Clark and Martha. Clark becomes depressed after the death of his father but eventually turns around. Martha takes Jonathan's senate seat. In the finale Fine grooms Lex to be a host so he can release Zod into him, and see's Clark sent to the Phantom Zone as Lex/Zod looks out into Metropolis with Lana at his side.

Season Six

Season 6 deals with Clark taking care of Lex/Zod. Also throughout the season he has to deal with criminals who escaped from the Phantom Zone when Clark left. The aftermath of Lex's possession and also Lana and Lex's Wedding. Jimmy Olsen, Oliver Queen/Green Arrow, and John Jones/Martian Manhunter appear throughout the season, with the return of Bart, Victor and AC (Flash, Cyborg, and Aquaman). An early incarnation of The Justice League premieres in the first half of the season as they combat Lex Luthor and his secret of level 33.1. Red Kryptonite returns for a Valentines Day story. In the season finale Lana learns of Clark's secret and Clark learns that Lionel forced Lana to marry Lex. Lana apparently dies at the end of the season with Lex arrested for her murder. The final phantom copies Clark's Kryptonian DNA and becomes a "bizarre version of Clark." Also we learn that Chloe has an ability to heal people after she heals Lois Lane, who begins working for the Daily Planet.

Season Seven

Season 7 deals with Clark meeting his cousin, Kara and teaches her to use her abilities correctly. Lana Lang is discovered to be alive and well after faking her death in the season 6 finale. Chloe learns to harness and accept her new ability, while courting Jimmy. Lois continues to work at the Daily Planet. Helen Slater makes an appearance as Clark's Biological Mother, Lara. Dean Cain also guest stars as Dr. Knox as well as Mark Mclure as Dax-Ur. Dinah Lance/Black Canary appears as well and Pete Ross returns. Season 7 marked the departure of Lionel Luthor, who is killed, Lex Luthor who is presumed dead, and Lana Lang, who leaves Smallville behind. In the finale Lex figures out Clark's secret and brings down the Fortress on both of them.

Season Eight

Season 8 deals with the aftermath of Lex's actions. The Justice League searches for Clark in the arctic, as a new CEO of LuthorCorp arrives. Clark Kent starts his job at the Daily Planet. Lex resurfaces and Oliver seemingly kills him also buying out LuthorCorp. Davis Bloom is revealed to be the son of Zod, and is also the monster Doomsday. Plastique and the Legion of Super-Heroes appear. Clark also begins a superhero career, known only as the Red-Blue-Blue. Lois breaks the story and as such the Blue calls Lois on occasion. Chloe and Jimmy's wedding is destroyed by Doomsday and Clark and Lois grow closer. Maxima appears sparking some tension between Lois and Clark. Zatanna also makes an appearance. The finale bring Rokk back from the future telling Clark he has to defeat Doomsday. While the Justice League makes a costly error, they disband in shame. Clark defeats Doomsday, but Jimmy dies, revealing to be the older brother of the comics counterpart. Lois gets sent to the future, using Clark's Legion Ring. After Jimmy's Funeral, Clark tells Chloe Clark Kent is dead. Tess releases the Orb which holds Zod in it.

Season Nine

Season 9 shows Clark accepting his destiny and trying to complete his training. He begins using the sign of the House of El. Lois and Clark begin a relationship. Chloe accepts her role as "Watchtower" organizing the hero community. The JSA, Hawkman, Dr. Fate, Stargirl, Star Spangled Kid, and Sandman appear, with references to Ted Grant, Micheal Holt, Al Pratt Jay Garrick and Alan Scott. Metallo, Amanda Waller, and Zod appear with cameo appearances from Toyman, Roulette, the Wonder Twins,Merlyn, Speedy (Mia Dearden) the Silver Banshee, Maxwell Lord and some future cameos from Perry White and Martha Kent are also expected. Also a population of Cloned Kandorians arrive making Clark's efforts strained as he tries to assimilate them while keeping Zod at arm's length. Clark tried to help the Kandorians make a home here on Earth but because of Zod that could not happen. Because of this Clark wanted to send them to there own home but that would mean him leaving also, Clark didn't care. But Zod did and when every one was going Zod didn't because he had a blue Kryptonite Knife which took away his powers making him human. Then Zod and Clark got into a big fight Zod saying "Better to rule in hell than to serve in heaven" Then he said he will rule this world but Clark said thats not going to happen and stab himself with the Knife falling off a building. With that Zod now had his powers and was no longer human so he was force to go to the new world. Clark is falling to his death when it says to be continued.

Season Ten

Clark fights a new evil called The Darkness while trying to avoid the government and the VRA. The Darkness slowly reveals itself to be Darkseid, a warlord from Apokolips. Meanwhile Oliver publicly reveals his identity and gives up being Green Arrow. The Justice League disbands as a result of the Vigilante Registration Act and Hawkman is killed trying to save Lois. Clark accepts his destiny and saves the Earth from Darkseid as Superman. Then flash forwarding to 2018, Lex Luthor is elected President Of The United States.
