I really enjoyed this film, but I never hear anyone mention it for any reason.

What do you guys think?

I loved it. Meditative while still being completely engaging.

Which one? I'm a huge fan of Tarkovsky in general, so of course, I prefer the first, but the remake wasn't a bad movie either.

I remember seeing this for the first time and being captivated by Jeremy Davies' performance. Re-watching it now it's certainly still solid, but a little too heavy on the tics and physical things which distracts from some of the scenes' tension. Clooney is good, as always, and Steven Soderbergh is incapable of shooting a film that at least looks anything less than beautiful.
I'm always interested in these projects (like Gus van Sant's remake of Psycho) which are taken on out of a mix of ambition and reverence. Perhaps the most important thing is that Soderbergh's film is eminently watchable, well crafted and entertaining in its own right.

The thing that keeps me from engaging the story completely is the character. Clooney's character brought Sam Niel's in Event Horizon to my memory.
They're both traumatized from their past and for some reasons they're sent to solve space crisis. I mean they can't even dealt with their own problem.

Solaris will be perfect for me if someone like Michio Kaku is the main protagonist. Someone with a happy-go-lucky attitude and no drama-infested lives.
Now let's see what Solaris is going to do about that.

I have a threshold on how slow movies can be paced, and this crossed it, circled back around and crossed it again.
