So Spartacus: Gods of the Arena is now on Netflix instant. I only saw the first episode of the first season, but since it is a prequel I assume I won't be missing much.

Okay, I have very little idea about what is going on. Seems like there is the main narrative of the gladiator battles and the rising of the ranks etc.

I can understand the staples of the series: violence, dick jokes, and boobs. Violence seems pretty good... dick jokes are plentiful and boobs are pretty nice.

So, what is everyone's take on this?

I heard it's not as good as Blood and Sand but still fun.

A for not watching Blood and Sand before Gods of the Arena, I think it might be better if you watched the former first. A lot of the plot surrounding Batiatus and Lucretia will probably be more appreciated after watching BaS.

I don't like the fact that it's a prequel. It's starting off a bit slow, but it was nice seeing Lucy Lawless in her birthday suit.

Man, Spartacus is unbelievable. The season finale was intense. I had a feeling after watching the first couple episodes that Gannicus would survive the season and probably appear in season 2 (which he will according to this interview with the actor, Dustin Clare). Gods of the Arena and Blood and Sand are great shows, end of story. Can't wait for season 2.

I thought they did a great job with only six episodes. Seeing how all the story lines was started for season one was brilliant. The finial two episodes was amazing. I might be wrong i will have to go back and watch it again but it looked like Batiatus was moving. It was stupid on there part for announcing that lucy was still alive and will return for season two. Should have left it a secret.

Nah, Batiatus is dead. He's not coming back. I noticed Lucretia moving at the end, but I wasn't aware Starz announced that she would be back for season 2. It must only be a minor role because as we know, the slaves are now in revolt. I would rather not see her though, to be honest.
