The original pilot for "Star Trek," it was rejected by the network and contained several key differences from the eventual series. It would be mostly reused in the two-parter episode, "The Menagerie," but would not be shown in full until 1988.
Charlie Evans is rescued after being stranded alone on a planet for 14 years. As the Enterprise takes the young man to a nearby colony, his immaturity combined with powerful mental abilities makes him a threat to everyone on board.
When the Enterprise finds a distress signal from the S.S. Valiant, the crew heads into an anomaly to investigate why the Captain had chosen to destroy his own ship. The anomaly changes Gary Mitchell and the crew is forced to deal with his increasing ESP powers.
"I'M CAPTAIN KIRK!" Captain Kirk is split into aggressive and timid copies in a transporter mishap.
The crew of the USS Enterprise respond to a prison riot at an insane asylum planet.
Spock must return to Vulcan to mate with his wife but accidentally enters into mortal combat with Captain Kirk.
The Enterprise is held captive by a being claiming to be the ancient Greek god Apollo.
The USS Enterprise has been ordered to Capella IV to negotiate a mining contract for topeline, a mineral vital to life support systems of planetoid colonies. But when the crew beam down they discover that the Klingons have beat them to the planet. Kirk, Spock and Bones must try to secure the treaty, but the Klingon culture is much closer to that of the Capellans.
