Step Up 3-D is practically a tech demo for 3D dance movies. The technology and choreography? Impressive. Everything else? Not so much.

The third installment in the Step Up franchise features new characters and dances all in stunning 3-D fashion.

Trivia:

Lead actors Adam G. Sevani (Moose) and Alyson Stoner (Camille) have worked together previously in a number of 'JC Penney' commercials, Missy 'Misdemeanor' Elliott music videos and Adam Sevani's own, Youtube "Thriller" Remix.

Step-Up follows the a number of dancers as they train and compete in the international dace competition World Jam.
It's Moose's first day at Columbia but after a dance challenge breaks bad the police chase him and Luke, a man that was filming the dance off, and they manage to evade arrest and Luke gives Moose a ride to his loft. Upon arrival Luke explains to Moose the details of the compound in which he lives. The main floor houses a dance club where those that live upstairs can show off their dance moves and upstairs houses the Pirates, Luke's dance crew, and also operates as their training facilities. The house was previously owned by Luke's parents and it was also used to house dancers but as Luke's second in command informs him they are behind our their mortgage payments. As look explores the other Pirates explain that the dancer Moose faced off with was from the House of Samurai and he would surely be challenged again.
Luke notices a girl in the club downstairs, Natalie, and goes to pursue her with his video camera. After a game of cat and mouse Luke closes in and takes to Natalie about his dance crew however the pair are interrupted when the House of Samurai and the leader of the Samurai's Julian, a former Pirate and friend of Luke. At the end of the night Natalie and Moose agree to join the Pirates despite the fact that Moose will have to balance school, dance, and maintaining a relationship with his childhood friend Camille.
During the lead up and beginning of the contest take place Luke shows to Natalie his film about dancing and the two grow closer, Moose alienates Camille and skips school to dance with the Pirates, and the Pirates are evicted. Luke discovers that Natalie is Julian's sister and if the Pirates don't win the World Jam Julian will buy the Pirates compound. The eviction pushes some of the Pirates to the breaking point and they quit to join House Samurai and in a last ditch effort to gain back Camille's trust Moose dances with her and ask her to help his friend win World Jam. They recruit dancers from a dance crew back home and get them to join the Pirates. While practicing a the new dance studio in the back of an arcade Julian offers the Pirates' compound back to Luke free of charge if the Pirates back out of World Jam. Luke refuses.
At World Jam the Pirates and House Samurai face off in the finals and the Pirates win with the last minute help of Natalie. She explains to Luke that she submitted his movie to a film school and he got accepted. Luke decides to leave the city with Natalie to start fresh. Moose makes up with Camille and gets a double major of engineering and dance.
