Stroszek (1977)

Edit this Page
Werner Herzog Director previously directed The Great Ecstasy of Woodcarver Steiner

Bruno Stroszek has just been released from prison but he soon finds life in his hometown Berlin unbearable. With his prostitute friend Eva and oddball neighbour Mr. Scheitz he sets out to Railroad Flats, Wisconsin because he has heard that everybody gets rich quickly in America.

Trivia:

The film crew strongly disliked the last sequence so Herzog had to film it himself. Incidentally, he consideres this scene one of the best he has ever filmed.

Quote: Sheriff

We have a 10-80 out here, a truck on fire, we have a man on the lift. We are unable to find the switch to turn the lift off, can't stop the dancing chickens. Send an electrician, we're standing by.
