Reviewers are hilarious, this movie is awesome, you are wrong.

This film is uniquely visual in its presentation, a bit of a throwback in terms of its action and gunplay, and is supported by a very disturbing, but well told and well acted story that in the end is truly inspiring and very, very real. It is a story about empowerment for people, not just women, learning to get back up after being knocked down, fighting to change your situation/issues/problems. It is a story that everybody has experienced at some point, and it teaches to not be confined inside jaded walls and to keep moving, keep pushing forward.

After reading some reviews, I have a hard time understanding the massive hate, but lucky for me, I passed on the initial buzz and rediscovered this knowing that the film was different than what was advertised. It looks like you all got suckered by advertising and you let that color your opinions.

Leave it alone and come back to it with an open mind and you might enjoy it more. There's a reason I don't trust movie reviews, honestly, and I generally am open to differing opinions, but this is one that has me frustrated more than anything.

Saying reviewers are wrong for bashing a film, great way to tell me to ignore any opinions you have.

I haven't seen it but everyone I know who isn't a reviewer enjoyed it a lot. Whenever it ends up on netflix I may give it a try.

@Pickle: Great way to read the content of the OP, you pickledick. My title was more of an attention-grab as it's not entirely indicative of the post content. Never change, internet! Sucker Punch is still awesome.

Using a title that's more of an attention grabber than indicative of what is in the post is a great way to get me to ignore the actual post.

Opinions can't be wrong, only misinformed.

Especially  when backed by such clever lines as 'pickledick'.

@Napalm: No, it really was terrible. It's really hard to be impressed by cgi these days and this didn't cut it. The characters, plot, setting, everything was terrible. And what can I say about the ending - a deplorable u-turn that went against everything that had happened previously.

I hated this movie, the worst thing about it is that I paid £20 to see it at the IMAX.  It's a 14 year olds masturbatory fantasy, nothing more.

I'm gonna use Pickledick all the time now!

I actually enjoyed this movie. Yes, it is pretty terrible, but the action scenes were fun. Plus, I'm a sucka for hotties in naughty outfits.
The story was a complete mess, I cringed a couple of times at the dialogue. Visually though I thought it was entertaining. I might buy the DVD just to show friends and to remind myself what a bad movie looks like. Oh, and for the chicks of course.

This movie is terrible, one of the worst ones I have seen this year.

This isn't why I enjoyed it. I enjoyed it because of how very real and common the story underneath it is. It just happens to be coupled be really great action.

@Napalm: i agree this movie was unfairly attacked.
and it is particularly infuriating they called it sexist because of women getting abused!  i mean, I SAW THE DEVIL has a green on Metacritic.

Come now, that's not the only reason that it was labelled as sexist/misogynist. Just as many people complained about the way that it pretends to empower the women in the film whilst simultaneously dressing them in leery, exploitative outfits (complete with male gaze).

While you definetly stated this all wrong I will agree in the way that I haven't found a reviewer who follows my interests in movies. While I look at the reviews on Screened I don't let them guide my opinion on films as I have disagreed with them before

yeah but let me point out it isnt terribly sexual overall.  I mean, we had much more provacative clothing in Step Up
now i know part of the problem is the fact that it says its female empowerment.  but i think it is serious.  it just had a tone that rubbed people the wrong way.  but its message is legitimate.
what would you consider THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO??

People assuming their opinions are objectively right while reviewers got it wrong is like a big IGNORE sign to me.

i thought it was visually entertaining but kind of nonsensical. i want to get it on blu ray just to watch the action scenes, but overall i wouldnt recommend.
