When a hero is defeated, defenseless and completely at the will of their nemesis the bad guy has a terrible habit of finding their gift for gab right then and there, revealing the entire nefarious scheme and usually allowing the protagonist to rally or notice a convenient trap door.
The villain can almost never resist the urge to gloat a bit before finishing off the hero.
This may include: taunting the hero, pointing out where the hero went wrong, detailing the specifics of their brilliant evil plans, asking the hero to join them, or just outright explaining why they utterly despise the hero and everything they stand for.
Unfortunately for the villain, this often leads to their downfall.
