The Hunger Games return with such a sequel twist that you can't believe writer Suzanne Collins didn't think of film when writing. Catching Fire builds up with all types of subversive messaging which is interesting but also brings into relief the limitations of the genre and film.
I remember reading the olden Brothers Grimm tale of Repunzel when I was a kid. Watching this movie with my daughters opened up all those old memories of the original tale but kept the story fresh by adding additional content and story basis. The Acting in the movie was well done with all the different characters working well together. There are a few points in the middle of the movie that slow down to a point where my kids were getting antsy because they were loosing interest but it quickly jumped back into the fray. All and all I have to say this was a very good update to a classic tale that will be added to my collection soon as it hits the store.
