Tears of the Sun follows Lt. AK Walters (Willis) as he leads his team of Nay SEALs on a rescue mission through the jungles of Cameroon. Their mission is simple, rescue Dr. Lena Fiore Kendricks (Bellucci) who is currently aiding local population at a catholic church deep in the jungle. The mission begins as planned as the SEAL team HALO jump near to the encampment, approaching at the dead of night gives them opportunity to enter unnoticed, reaching Dr. Kendrick quickly, with the minimal amount of fuss.
