The Hunger Games return with such a sequel twist that you can't believe writer Suzanne Collins didn't think of film when writing. Catching Fire builds up with all types of subversive messaging which is interesting but also brings into relief the limitations of the genre and film.
There are many references to the first Terminator in T2. A few include the lines "Come with me if you want to live," "I love you _____, I always have," the villain Terminator saying "Get out" as it steals a vehicle and "I'll be back" (Obviously). Also, Arnold's Terminator encounters a group of thugs while his adversary encounters police upon arriving in the present.
Set several years after the first movie, T2 shows us much has changed. Sarah has been put into a mental institution after being caught trying to bomb a computer factory, with her son taken from her and placed into foster care. Two terminators are sent back in time, one to kill John and the other to protect him. After the T-800 secures John and they break Sarah out, they intend to run from the T-1000 chasing them but instead head to see if they can change the future by destroying Cyberdyne's research into what will eventually become Skynet. The movie culminates in a face off between the two killing machines in a steel mill.
Los Angeles, 2029: The film begins in a scene from a park in this, but the film quickly moves to the year 2029 in Los Angels with a monologue by Sarah Connor. Sarah says that 3 billion human beings died in the year 1997 (this event came to be called the Day of Judgement). " Three Billion human lives ended on August 29th, 1997. The survivors of the nuclear fire called the war the Judgment Day. They lived only to face a new nightmare, the war against the machines. The computer which controlled the machines, Skynet, sent two Terminators back through time. Their mission: destroy the leader of the human resistance: John Connor. My Son. The first Terminator was programmed to strike at me in the year 1984,before John was born. It failed. The second was set to strike at John himself, when he was still a child. As before, the Resistance was able to send a lone warrior. A protector for John. It was just a question of which one of them would reach him first."
And the human race would soon face a new nightmare - the bloody war against the machines and Skynet. The human resistance led by John Connor fight bravely to the machines but always in a constant disadvantage. In 1984, the machines sent a terminator (T-800 model) to eliminate Sarah and therefore John could never be born (and resistance would be crushed without any effort).
After the failure of Skynet, thanks to the intervention of the resistance by sending a human to save Sarah Connor, a soldier and a faithful follower of John Connor, Kyle Reese, the machines did not give up and this time they sent another Terminator with a new mission - now the target is John Connor himself, as a child. The human resistance in the future captures a new Model T-800 (CSM-101), and the robot is reprogrammed by John Connor to protect and obey John Connor in the past.
In contrast, the machines send the advanced model T-1000 (Robert Patrick), a prototype of an alloy in liquid form, able to copy the forms of the same size and so much more efficient and subtle murdered in missions (the Terminator aims to kill John Connor). The main advantage of T-1000 is the fact consist of liquid metal, can change form, and is much harder to destroy it. Even if destroyed, the new model T-1000 can be reconstructed without any damage.
Present: At present, the model T-800 arrives from the future to the past. T-800 arrives at a parking lot for trucks. The Termiantor beginning to look (he checks the car and bikes are parked next to a bar not far from the park of trucks) to the area and he quickly arrives at a bar - The Corral - a bar where there are truck drivers and prostitutes. The model T-800 arrives at the bar completely naked to the astonishment of everyone. T-800 begins to consider humans to see which is the most suitable clothes. The Terminator arrives at an individual and he asks his clothes, boots and motorcycle. The driver attacks the terminator, but the terminator throws the driver to a stove in the kitchen. Most drivers try to attack the terminator, but the T-800 controls the situation quickly. The Terminator goes to the kitchen and the driver gives her clothes, a gun and the keys to the bike.
T-1000 also comes to the present from the future. On site is a policeman who is quickly killed by the Terminator. The Terminator gets his clothes from the police officer and it goes to the police car, where he checks on the computer the location of John Connor. The Terminator is replaced by the appearance of a police order to more easily find John Connor. Sarah Connor (Linda Hamilton) is hospitalized in a psychiatric hospital in Pescadero, the maximum security area, repeating the story of the end of time and machines with Dr. Silberman (Earl Boen). Sarah suffers constant beatings from guards of the psychiatric hospital (even drugs).
The young John Connor (Edward Furlong) is a rebellious young man who lives with his adoptive parents, He does not respect anything or anyone, after the arrest of Sarah to try to destroy the a computer factory, the computer maker, after having lived many years in Nicaragua (and Sarah learned many skills and military combat). On arrival of the two terminators, John and his friend rob an ATM (John is a computer expert). John manages to break the code so he can steal money from the machine.
The first confrontation
John's friend asks who taught these computer skills. John replies that was his real mother (Sarah Connor). John also shows a photo of his mother to his friend. John says that Sarah is crazy because she tried to blow up a computer factory and she was caught by the police in the process. The two young men go to the Galleria (a large shopping area full of video games and arcades for fun). Dr. Peter Silberman realizes therapies in Sarah Connor, often Sarah attacks violently the doctor. However, both Terminators arrive in the the Galleria in search of John Connor. The T-1000 arrives first to the place where John is playing. But John manages to escape. John would have been dead if not for the intervention of the T-800, which comes at the right time. Both Terminators start fighting each other, but T-1000 has superior physical skills and abilities (including the regeneration and repair of your body). T-1000 is superior to T-800 (T-1000 throws T-800 against a wall). But John manages to escape. The T-1000 gets rid of the T-800, continues the search for John Connor, but the young boy flees in a small bike. The T-1000 hijacked a truck and starts to chase John, which is again saved by the T-800 driving a motorcycle. T-800 managed to successfully (in the midst of persecution) to blow up the truck and so, T-800 gets some time for it and John escaping.
T-800 and John make a break, and the Terminator explains that it came from the future to protect John from the T-1000. John tries to contact his adoptive parents by phone, but the T-800 discovers that the adoptive parents of John were killed by the T-1000. With this, John thinks that his real mother can be at risk and it goes with the T-800 to the psychiatric hospital of Pescadero to rescue her.
