Overview

The Adjusment Bureau is a film that focuses on team of men who do not want David Norris or Elise Sellas together. These group of men have multiple powers and will stop at nothing to make sure everything goes to plan.

Story

The Adjustment Bureau starts with David Norris; a political candidate who on the night of losing his campaign for the New York Senate seat meets a women in the bathroom by chance. He then gives a off the cuff speech about losing the election after meeting her.

The Adjustment Bureau

In 2010 David is again running for the senate. David enters a bus that he was not supposed to enter. A man whose job was to get Norris to spill coffee on himself, Harry, oversleeps on the job in the park. David then again encounters the same woman from election night. This time he tells him her name is Elise and gives him his number. He then goes to work to find his campaign manager frozen in time along with all the staff. David is chased by a group of men wearing riot gear. While David is running he keeps seeing a man in a hat who has the power to transport himself anywhere with doors. Soon David is stopped and brought to a warehouse. David then meets Richardson the man with the hat. Richardson tells him about the Adjustment Bureau a group of people making sure that everything happens at the right time. Richardson tells David that he can not speak of the adjustment bureau to anyone or his mind will be erased. David is also not allowed to see Elise again and Richardson burns the piece of paper with the phone number on it.

Three years later, David has been riding the same bus every morning with the chance of seeing Elise again. He sees her walking by and forces them to stop the bus. They then learn more about each other and fall in love. The Adjustment Bureau is constantly trying to stop the relationship with as of their powers available.

Richardson is then brought to the head quarters of the Adjustment Bureau for failing to keep Elise and David separate. It is then brought to Richardson's attention that there was an alternate plan where Elise and David did fall in love. Thompson, a famous member of the Adjustment Bureau, is then brought in to fix Richardson's problem.

Thompson then tells David that if Elise and him stay together; Elise's future as a successful dancer will be shattered. David leaves Elise and hopes to move on with his life. Richardson tells Harry about the original plan and then the film continues 7 months into the future.

The Adjustment Bureau revealed.

David is told by his campaign manager that Elise is marrying her previous fiancée that she left the day she met David. Harry reveals himself again to David to help him get Elise back before the wedding takes place. He teaches him that anyone with a hat could be a member of the adjustment bureau and that is how they transport themselves with doors. Elise is shocked to find David. David takes Elise to the Statue of Liberty to help explain what is going on. She agrees to go with him to the Adjustment Bureau tower. Elise and David make it to the top of the tower to be trapped by Thompson's men. Harry then gives Thompson important information that the plan has been changed and Elise and David are allowed to stay together.
