This new picture was posted on the interwebz today of Garfield in his spidey suit:

Now I've just recently watched The Social Network. I'm honestly not sure that I'll be able to get Eduardo Saverin out of my head while watching Spider-Man. I think I'm just going to imagine that instead of advertising Facebook while he was in NY, he did this instead.

I still wish they would have gone with a younger actor. Parker became Spider-Man at 15. Woulda been very cool seeing an even younger kid take on whatever villain they throw at him in the reboot.

@JJWeatherman: I didn't have him engraved into my head, so I'm fine. A new Spider man movie could be fun.

Excited!
Andrew Garfield was fantastic in Social Network and Never Let Me Go. I also love 500 Days of Summer.

CAN'T WAIT FOR THIS!

I'm still not sure about it. It's not that he is engraved in my head as Eduardo Saverin, it's that Tobey Maguire is engraved in my head as Peter Parker. I still think that a reboot so quickly after the previous film is just stupid. Then again, they were running out of popular Marvel characters to make movies about.

I did have my doubts on them casting an older actor. But Andrew Garfield does look younger.
I think if they casted a teenager, then the movie would just seem child-like and not really have the large-scale action or scenes that made the original Spiderman films awesome to watch.

Andrew looks great in the costume and they did very well casting Emma Stone as Gwen! This is gonna be an awesome movie.

@Daniel: He definitely looks the part... Yet in a couple of years when there's a sequel... I doubt it.

Still the costume is awesome. I'm not sure about the no belt piece yet but I approve either way!

I would actually like the REVERSE of all this, I'd prefer an older Parker group.. One thats ALREADY married to MJ, and does tons of crossovers..

I AM however, liking the return of what looks like webshooters to the man.
The ben reilly-ish look to the suit will grow on us..

As long as he isn't written like a whimper doof, we should have ourselves a good movie.

I think it would be more interesting to have a 15 year old actor like from the comic, but then again most 15 year old actors are fucking atrocious.

I'm a huge fan of marvel in particular spider-man and i wasn't impressed originally with the casting of Andrew Garfield.  But i got to say after seeing that pic i think they could pull it off.  As being slightly older i guess that could always put make up on him in any future sequels to make him look younger.

But at the same time it may have been cool to have a young dude playing spider-man cause that would add more realism to the film and watch him grow with the movies like harry potter and chronicles of narnia.  I've also got an article about it at my blog so check it out.  www.vitosal.wordpress.com

Im seriously looking forward to this. I never really liked Raimi's Spiderman films (Ok, I loved the 2nd, but I thought the first was mediocre and I think everyone has a similar opinion on the 3rd) and I HATED Maguire as Peter Parker so a reboot, even as ridiculous it is this soon, is aok in my books, and Im really liking Garfield after seeing the Social Network.

Andrew Garfield is a dead ringer for Peter Parker (especially as drawn by the Romita's), and Marc Webb's first film was brilliant so I'm pretty confident in him too. I love the home-made feel of the costume and the added texturing. And just the fact that they decided the first teaser image would be a scarred and torn up Spidey suggests this is going to be a more gritty take on the character akin to the comics, so I'm pretty excited.
