New Spider-Man Movie Set Images: "Peter & Gwen Sitting in a Tree"

It shouldn't come as a surprise that Gwen Stacy's role in the new Spider-Man movie might not be more than just Peter Parker's love interest. Which is why the recently-taken set images of the franchise's reboot is not a shock at all (left).

Personally, while I would have preferred a picture of Andrew Garfield in the Spider-Man suit doing some sort of acrobatic move whilst fighting the movie's villain, this is a nice reveal. After taking a closer look at the picture I can tell that the movie is heading in the right direction.
Although I can't say I am not liking the 'Edward Cullen from Twilight' look that Peter has in these pictures, I can say that Emma Stone's look for Gwen Stacy just hit it's concrete high point since she is wearing every piece of clothing that makes Gwen Stacy memorable (For the exception of the typical black headband).

On the same note I think it is noteworthy to mention that Peter Parker's comic book rival, Flash Thompson has been cast and has begun filming (right). Actor Chris Zylka (10 Things I Hate About You)  is playing the football player who calls Spider-Man "Puny Parker". Opinions?

Still not used to seeing her with Blonde hair, but it sounds like you know what you're talking about, so I remain cautiously optimistic. Garfield's hair looks a little goofy to me though...

I don't particularly like Spiderman, but with the acting chops of Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone behind the film I'm cautiously excited for it.

@skidd: When I mentioned the look of Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy, this is what I am talking about:

For the exception of color changes Emma Stone is wearing most of the characters's typical attire.

@sora_thekey: Ah yeah! That's pretty close alright. Just out of interest, would you prefer them to remain closer to the comics as a reference point when formulating a new storyline, or would you be ok with them just going off and doing something that's a bit more loose - which might allow them to be less limited?
Perhaps I'm reading into it too much, but based on what you've quite rightly pointed out there, it seems as if it's the former?

@skidd: I would prefer for them to remain closer to the comics but not to imitate every exact piece of dialog and panel. Have you ever watched Spectacular Spider-Man? That TV series was amazingly loose and accurate all at the same time.
It did not follow the exact same storyline that comic books have but while not following that story every single mannerism, attitude and decision the characters made were spot on to what could/would happen in the comic.
That's why the Spider-Man first movie was so good, the movie did a good job at embedding most of the aspects I was talking about. If Sony is smart then they will follow the ambiance that the TV series had.

Even though Rhys Ifans is playing Curt Connors, that doesn't mean that he will be the Lizard. It was confirmed that  Irrfan Khan would be playing the villain, but it remained an unnamed villain. Speculation suggest it might be Proto-Goblin
