So how did the female assassin die, did he rig her gun, and how would that be possible? Does anyone else know???

I would assume that he did rig the gun. I was kind of suspicious that it was always her goal to kill him with the gun - perhaps as a kind of final fuck you from his handler. I don't know much about guns, but I assume that it wouldn't be too difficult to put some kind of explosive on the firing pin to cause it to detonate when the weapon is fired the next time.

@Rorie: Yeah somebody pm'd me and told me thats what it was, for some crazy reason I thought he rigged it up to shoot her some how, I dunno what I was thinking.

I thought that he blocked the barrel with something.  Whether or not she was using those mercury tipped rounds, the backfire would be pretty nasty.  That, combined with the fall, would fuck her up pretty good.  I don't think that Pavil had any malevolence toward Jack.  He was probably just weary.  Whether he sent the Swedes after Jack at the beginning is up for interpretation.  At some point, he decides that Jack is a liability and contracts the hit.  It's banal.   By the time that they meet in Rome, Pavil has already decided to eliminate Jack. It's fairly obvious that he intended to track him via the cell phone.  That guy with the Ford was waiting for him in the village early on.  He and Jack did a little dance for a couple of weeks before they finally caught up with each other.

Jack had demonstrated a weakness for pretty ladies.  So, the choice of assassin was appropriate.  The scene at the river, where they are testing the rifle is a superb, almost erotic dance of death.  He has three different meetings at the river, all involving death.  He continued to rely on his instinct for self preservation but I believe he chose the river because he thought it would be a good place to die.

Here's a question: were the prostitutes being murdered and the police questioning Ingrid a coincidence or was there some other connection?
