The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes! Forum

It looks like Avengers: Earths Mightiest Heroes is going up to the big studio in the sky next to Spectacular Spider-man. There have been rumors for a couple of months now that head of Marvel TV Jeph Loeb was going to cancel or at very least totally rework the show come season 3 or the later half of 2. They will be starting over now since Marvel TV will now be producing its own Avengers TV show Avengers Assemble(pictured below), saying in a press release

“The Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes” won’t be renewed for the 3rd Season. Marvel Animation will present their newly developed series “Marvel’s Avengers Assemble” in 2013.”

I'm not going to automatically crap on this new show. Not until I see it at least. I just hope that they keep the long form serialized nature of the show and other superhero cartoons. The Avengers are supposed to be the last resort when Iron Man can't do it alone. Having them just do a 22 minute villain of the week segment is now way to build good drama or characters.

Sadly Jeff Loeb has come out and said that he wants Marvel to now do more shows that are self contained, like they aren't serialized stories but just a series of individual episodes because he said that that's what audiences want. Yes, that's what we want, that's why DC doesn't have a successful animated franchise... Oh wait, they totally do.

@obscurefan: That's not what I want. Serialized animated stories is why I watch so much anime. I think he meant to say "that's what advertisers want." Still, I can understand the cancellation. Frankly Disney XD has been very haphazard with airing the more recent episodes. When the series began it was on at the same time each week and they made sure viewers knew that. These past few months, I never knew when it was airing and sometimes it was at odd times of the evening. Once you start moving a program around like that, you know the show is in trouble.

Figures. I'm on episode 12 of the first season on Netflix. Sad they won't continue what is a pretty awesome show.

@PenguinDust:I don't know where you are but it's been on at 11:37 for me every Sunday on DisneyXD since it started the second season. It just went on break the last week of two. Disney and Cartoon Network are pretty crap at keeping shows at the same time consistently.

@obscurefan: Leob always struck me as the guy who doesn't care or realize that 18+ watch this stuff and that kids are actually smart enough to follow along. It's a different show but I showed my cousins who are about 12 Legend of Korra when it came on and they love it and understand that it is a longer story and not just random stuff.

I used to really like Jeph Loeb but his recent decisions are just extremely puzzling to me. As a comic book writer he should understand that fans don't want self contained stories and more importantly he should understand that the majority of people who watch The Avengers: EMH are comic book fans not kids. Kids watch the show but I'm fairly certain the show is watched mainly by comic book fans. I'm fairly certain this show is going to be set in the same universe as Ultimate Spider-Man so expect this to be a kid friendly show that talks down to kids. Loeb should look at what Bruce Timm, Alan Burnett, and James Tucker did with Justice League and then apply that to Marvel Animation. Kids watched the show but they knew as producers that fans made up the majority of the audience. Why Loeb doesn't get that is still a mystery to me.

I hope Ant-Man and Wasp are on the show! :( I really don't like Falcon.

sadly this is what happens. a show comes out. is around for a season or two,then they say fuck it and reboot it. the same will happen to this show as well.

@CherryBomb: It seems like they want more characters that are only from the movie and are adding Falcon just because. Don't want to confuse the audience or anything.

I LOVE the show. I can't belive this! The development of the storie was just great. Every part of the story had it's own time and moments. I don`t know how anyone would like to change a great thing!

But they already have a girl. They need a random black guy.

@gangly: Nick Fury. I would love if Black Panther was in there. Don't really like Wasp and Ant-Man outside of a cartoon, unless they could Wasp be more powerful or useful.

Ha! True. Although obviously kids are way less likely to get behind a super smart, no nonsense, weapons trained, tactically brilliant cool guy, than... um... a flying bird telepath. Oh, wait... ;)
