Can Thor even suffer fall damage?

I was just watching Thor again after seeing The Avengers, and realized the insane speed that he travels at through space. Why the hell does he have to worry about falling when he was trapped in the cell? Is this just a case of "space magic"?

@alexpiercey: Not really getting what you're asking because as I remember he never falls from space straight into the ground without him wanting to but I think @Suedehead: answered you

Yeah, we never really learn what it takes to kill Thor or Loki. Their pain threshold is obviously way beyond any normal human, but they are mortal. It sounded like even Loki didn't know either, when he says "The humans think we're immortal, shall we test that?"

@alexpiercey: It's especially weird considering that it's implied that "the cell" was built to hold Banner if he started Hulking out. If it couldn't have hurt or contained Thor, wouldn't it be pretty damn useless in stopping The Hulk too?

@gangly: Well the floor was designed to drop out when the capsule was compromised. The idea, I believe, was to get Hulk off of the Helicarrier, not injure, or kill him.
