@CrimsonAvenger: From what I understand, Fox owns the Super Skrull, so I assume that means they also own the entire skrull brand. That being said, I doubt that this army is anything skrull related. Plus, someone from Marvel Studios (it may have been Avi Arad) flat out said that this isn't the skrulls.

The fact that you brought up the Kree is interesting to me because I have a rather far-fetched theory on that subject. I have a feeling that the Phil Coulson character is somehow tied in further in the Marvel Cinematic Universe than what the audience has seen thus far. If you've ever read the Ultimate Marvel titles, you'd know that a SHIELD Agent turns out to be Captain Mar-Vell, a Kree soldier. I have a strong suspicion that Coulson just might be Mar-Vell in the guise of a human.

But Annihilus is cool too, lol.

Phil Coulson being Mar-Vell? That would make my day. If nobody at Marvel has thought of that yet, I'm going to be sorely disappointed. Your theory is quite plausible and it seems to be a popular theory on the internet regarding the film. There's going to be a SHIELD film so that kind increases the possibility that Coulson is Mar-Vell. I'm thinking Coulson is more than just a fan favorite as they wouldn't keep giving so much screen time if he wasn't important and no lowly SHIELD Agent is important enough to have appeared in most of the MCU films. Fox has the film rights to the Skrulls but the rights to anything Ultimate Universe is actually Marvel Studios so maybe down the line we'll see the Chitauri instead (Personally I think the Chitauri are better than Skrulls).

@CrimsonAvenger: I'm totally with you on the Chitauri. They are much more intimidating opponents and are way smarter than their 616 counterparts. And Phil Coulson being Mar-Vell or anything other than some ordinary SHIELD agent just makes sense to me. He's obviously very important because he's been in pretty much every other MCU film thus far. It'd be a waste if he was just some ordinary guy.
