HULK BIG SMILE AT NEWS OF HULK FILM
HULK BIG SMILE AT NEWS OF HULK FILM
You didn't think that Marvel was going to stop at one Avengers movie, did you? Well, obviously they're ramping up the promotional efforts for the movies that they're bringing out over the next couple of years, but continued rumblings keep popping up about their plans for the next five years or so after 2012. Latest on the rumor mill? Actor Mark Ruffalo letting slip that Marvel has plans for another couple of Avengers movies, and possibly another Hulk film. As he told Empire:

"They set up several pictures over a couple of years and possibly there will be a Hulk movie. There'll probably be a couple more Avengers too, which would be fun."

Well, sure, why not? I can only imagine that Joss Whedon is planning ahead for multiple films in the Avengers franchise; I'd bet good money on a three-picture story arc to be set up in the first film and some shadowy enemy to appear in the background for the sequels. But who? I think Dr. Doom is tied up with Fox's Fantastic Four movies, but I guess there's no shortage of iconic Marvel villains that they could bring out. The Skrulls? A.I.M.? M.O.D.O.K.

I'm also intrigued by the talk of a new Hulk movie. The first Hulk was widely perceived to be a disappointment, but the second movie only made a couple million dollars more than it did. I'd be all in favor of a smaller, lower-budget Hulk movie that stuck closer to the ethos of the old TV show than some huge blockbuster, but that doesn't exactly seem to be Marvel's M.O. lately.

This changes everything to do with The Avengers movie but I hope this doesn't mean that's going to be a collective origin story.

I don't mean to single you out, Dany, but I've seen this on here before and I need to say something: Can we, as a community, please realize that "casted" is not a word? "Cast" is correct in the above sentence. That is always the case. Again, "casted" is not in the dictionary.

my vote for main villain is Galactus. but not a smoke monster like in that horrible movie, but full purple-pimp-suit-wearing-planet-eating-badass Galactus.

I don't really care. But thanks for the information that I will never use.

I still don't see why the first Hulk movie is so reviled. Was it that bad? I thought Ang Lee did some interesting things with the comic book-style presentation, multiple panels, etc.

Sure, battling gigantic poodles and Nick Nolte's...whatever that was...didn't make for the most exciting fight scenes, but it wasn't complete garbage.

Is the actor that played Hulk in the second movie going to play Hulk in the Avengers film? I remember there was a conflict going on between Marvel and that guy, but I don't know how that turned out.

@Snail:  You're not a big Ed Norton fan, are you?

@Hawkeye: Right. That's his name. Well, can you answer my question?

@Snail:  According to this link, he ain't coming back.

@Hawkeye: That's kind of old though, I read later on on IGN that his agent was going to sue MArvel or something something... Wondering how that turned out.

Anyway, enough of this nonsense, let us stop before we hijack the thread.

@nk19: Galactus is a Fantastic 4 villain and Fox still has those rights so you won't see him in any Marvel Studios production for a while.  I would love to see something like Hydra, Thanos or the Skrulls.  Those would be my choices but if I had to choose one, it would be Thanos and since the Infinity Gauntlet is supposedly gonna be in Thor and Thanos is linked to the Infinity Gauntlet in the comics, that seems to be where they are going.

I know what that meant, but the phrasing is flawed.

And so we go from focused character driven stories to all out bat-shit craziness. An ensemble cast beating the crap out of legions of bad guys with the best CG powers that money can buy. I wonder if Stan Lee will make 5 cameos in each of these movies now.

Hell, they should just have him play The Leader and has him be in the whole damn movie.

Marvel really seem to be jumping the shark here :S

My question is stop telling us about the Avengers and start making the Deadpool movie while he is still relevant.

I much prefer DC's approach  of cautious trying someone a little more B-league with Green Lantern
