I still believe it will make more money than Batman, but we'll see by summer's end.

I think Batman will be better (but both will be excellent), but I think you may be right. I can see it maybe being close, but I have a feeling that The Avengers will win it.

I work in a shopping mall and the cinema was bursting with activity

Just saw it for the second time, so I guess I'm part of the reason it's doing well in New Zealand :). The reason it was NZ's largest opening was probably because it opened on a public holiday (Anzac Day) on Wednesday.

Yeah, it's pretty great. I don't know if it's Great, for example I think Nolan's stuff has been better, but its easily better than any film I've seen so far this year, though The Grey is coming out next Friday here, so that might change things pretty quick. For that matter, I'm watching Predator in theater tomorrow - so that might change things too :)

Micro review: Joss Whedon's smart dialog and subversion of gravitas cut with wide-scale action cinematography taking notes from DC's animated works. Notably, he (or his co-writer) restrain themselves from making everyone super-snarky: everyone has a solid voice and keep their character inline from what we've seen in their own films. Also:

So far with reviews, I'll see it at the theater and most likely preorder it for its disc release to complete the collection. Hopefully it brings all the major players smoothly into this release and it'll be a good centerpiece, maybe not a masterpiece, and I'll be able to say, I'm glad someone finally got their comic solar system spinning. Hopefully one day either through rights reverting or some money deal, we'll see the other properties seamlessly able to appear throughout each other . . Fantastic Four inviting Spidey to join or the Avengers, . . . maybe no Ghost Rider . . . but maybe a Punisher against Spidey, or DareDevil, or Punisher vs GhostRider if ratings are to be R.

Was pretty damn good. I still advise people to manage their expectations, but the film was well done.

I can't wait for it.

Saw it last friday night with some friends, found it immensely more enjoyable than the past few stand alone Marvel films.

Whedon done good!

I watched it today.... I cannot find words to describe how freaking awesome this movie ended up being. SO MUCH WIN!

I think Batman will have a very good opening, Prometheus will be the stronger scifi movie
