So, the title pretty much says it all. but here's a quick little elaboration.

Horror is my favorite genre. I've heard great things about this flick, so I want to see it asa-fuckin'-p. Only problem is, despite my passion for scary shit, seeing it in the theater can freak me out. So just as a warning, I'm hoping you folks can give a sense of how actually scary this movie is.

Maybe rate it on a scale, or mention some comparably creepy flicks. Thanks so much!

(and remember, NO SPOILERS!!!)

It really isn't too bad. There are a handful of jump scares and a good bit of gore/creepy images, but the overall tone in relatively light-hearted in a dark humor sort of way. There was a lot more laughter in the theater than screams.

Yeah, I didn't actually find it to be all that scary. It's more clever than scary, and any moments of tension are almost immediately counterbalanced with some off-beat humor.

Then again, I don't seem to find most horror movies scary at all, even the ones other people call terrifying, so you can take my opinion with a grain of salt. You should definitely see it though, as it's a very unique entry into the genre.

There are some jump scares that got me, because I'm a SUPER EASY get when it comes to stingers like that, but in terms of actual terror or dread? Absolutely not.

It's definitely more heavy on laughs than scares, but there honestly were about two, maybe three scenes that made me freak out.

It really isn't very scary. There are a few jump scares, but they are intentionally predictable. It's more of a comedy than anything else.

I don't know if I'd describe it as a comedy, but yeah.

Yeah, I suppose "comedy" isn't the right word for it. I definitely laughed at a lot of parts, but it wasn't a comedy in the typical sense.

Jump scares are the worst, ugh! I guess if they're predictable I can watch it.

Just man up and go see it, I promise you won't regret it!

@FinalDasa: I jump at EVERYTHING. No joke. If a movie's sound is too high, even just stuff like gunfire can make me jump. Eventually you just get over it. My normal movie-buddy thinks its HILARIOUS.

Well, you guys are saying pretty much what I expected, which is perfect. I've heard comparisons to Evil Dead/Evil Dead II level scares, which I can certainly handle without (hopefully) spilling my nachos all over the three rows in front of me.

It's honestly more of a dark comedy than a horror movie. Maybe three or four good jump scares brought on by loud music but that's all.

i agree.

Trailer 2: Cabin In The Woods

"The lambs have come to the killing floor!" That's a pretty creepy thing to say, assuming you're not talking about actual lambs. And even then...

Trailer: The Cabin In The Woods

When your movie is from the writer of Cloverfield, one thing is for sure: you're not going to have any clue what it's about when you're done with the trailer.
