Plot Synopsis

The prologue at the beginning of the film states "another world, another time... in the age of wonder". The setting is the world of Thra, and every one thousand years there is a Great Conjunction of the planets three suns. A race of beings known as the urSkeks cracked the Crystal of Truth during a moment of rage, and were split into two diametrically opposed races. They became the gentle beings known as the Uru, or Mystics, and the tyrannical beings known as Skeksis. Also at moment the Crystal of Truth was damaged it became the Dark Crystal. The Skeksis then drove the Mystics from the castle where the cracked crystal resides and began hunting down a race known as Gelflings who were said to be the only ones who could heal the crystal and return harmony to the world of Thra. Prior to the next Great Conjunction, one of the last Gelfling, named Jen, sets out on a quest to heal the Dark Crystal.
